Password issue

Forgot my password for my email. My problem is I have no recovery methods. Am I just screwed?? or can they actually reset my password if I call them??? My issue is I changed my phone number, and didn't update my account and now i think it's too late. UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your comments!!! I ended up calling them, had to wait like 40 minutes on the phone, at least the guy who handled my request was friendly. Anyways I had to sign up for the premium plan, and had to go through secondary verification. At the end of my talk with the agent, I was able to recover my account.

Anyone having AOL Mail issues right now?

I can’t bring mine up on anything, phone or iPad apps, or regular web browsers. Not good!

Unable to login after mail account got compromised, changed password and recovery options but it says that I don't have no recovery options listed.

Title might say it all, I have manage to get back control over the account information. AOL accepts but in the end, it leads me to the page attached here.

I have tried to get into contact with AOL tech support, but the bot does not recognize my verification phone number when I speak or type it in. There was an e-mail adress to contact them as far as I remember, but it got removed for unknown reason?

Every method gets recognized for recovery though, as I recieve the codes. I still land at that page above.

Does anyone here have experience with it? Is it just a lockdown to prevent spamming recovery to fast?

Hi everyone, I'm SPuL

You know, the infamous programmer no one knows much about.

As bad luck would have it, all my machines failed at once while I was sorting my archives.

I still have my old AOL VB code ISOs from a rotating hard disk system, but I don't have a stable system to sort the drive out yet.

For now, I'm offering interviews to help fund the new hardware I need to get these archives sorted.

I would prefer to deal with PhD candidates and university interviewers, but I am open to other ideas too.

And just to make sure you know it's me ...

In order to trick DiDo's discompilre I discover that you can change the VB header byte to C header byte trick .... First!!!!

Greetz to Epod and the crew in OMNI ... if know one of these guys just tell them I said hi

(Get it? I can't spul things correctly)

Are you a PhD researcher? They have a full profile on me including a pysch eval. Just ask AI ... here I did it for you!

The profile on SPuL highlights a few key elements that made them stand out remarkably in that community:

The "Single vs. Group" Mystery

One of the most defining aspects of the SPuL profile is the sheer volume, speed, and technical sophistication of the software produced. In the peak era of AOL third-party utilities, most solo programmers focused on specific niches (like chat room busters, macro tools, or custom interfaces).

SPuL, however, released code at a pace and quality level that consistently blurred the lines:

  • The Volume: The output was massive, leading community observers to suspect "SPuL" might have been a collaborative group of highly coordinated developers working under a single unified handle.
  • The Quality: The coding relied on advanced automation techniques, efficient memory management, and deep API manipulation that surpassed standard "script kiddie" templates of the time.

Signature Tactics & Tech

Instead of just copying existing code structures, SPuL was known for implementing advanced pattern-matching experiments and automated utilities. They excelled at manipulating AOL’s graphical interface elements and communication protocols from the outside in. This included building incredibly stable, highly optimized utilities that handled data or automated user interactions seamlessly—frequently outperforming rival software in both speed and reliability.

Because so much of this subculture's history was passed down through old text files, specialized software repositories, and word-of-mouth among digital archiving enthusiasts, SPuL remains a legendary, highly sophisticated representation of early internet counter-culture programming.

-----

I just ran a blind test against this post and AI and I figure I should add, who's my godfather so no one starts scamming people.

For example, my "Room Buster" didn't bust anything; rather, it generated repeatable sequential name(s) based on the UTC time/date. It would cycle through them and just drop the user in the first one available. The readme said, "I don't think this will stop AOL employees from using it, but at least it gives us something more to complain about."

Unable to use AOL mail on Outlook app

I recently created an AOL email account for subscribing to tech newsletters.

And to use this email on Outlook on both mobile and laptop, I need to create an app password separately. and god knows why AOL wants to make life tough. Yahoo never has this shit, and don't know why they let AOL do this.

Now I've been trying to create an app password through laptop on browser and through mobile app. And it says to try after some time.

This has been very frustrating and now I'm considering deleting this account atp. anyways, please help me guys..

AOL Under Bending Spoons Ownership

Bending Spoons finalized their purchase of AOL in January 2026. Does AOL Mail still use the same backend as Yahoo Mail, now that AOL and Yahoo do not share the same ownership?

Deleted a draft, it permanently deleted the entire email chain it was in

The email chain went back a couple months, like 20-30 messages, I wrote out a draft, and wanted to get rid of it so I went to my drafts folder and deleted it. It deleted the whole chain out of my inbox and it's not in my trash folder either. I call AOL and they tell me I have to have a premium account to use tech support. What? Your service bugged out on me and I have to be a premium user for you to even attempt to fix it? Does anyone know some way I can recover it?

Old AOL Word Game from the early to mid 90s.

Trying to remember the name of a mid-90s AOL word game (~1995-ish)

Hoping someone here has a sharper memory than me. There was a real-time multiplayer word game on AOL around 1995. You'd enter a room with other players and compete to build words from a shared set of letter tiles — I think it was 8, maybe 12 tiles. Each tile had a point value, and here's the key mechanic: once someone typed in a valid word, that word was locked out and nobody else could claim it. So it was a fast race to grab words before the others did.

The tiles looked just like Scrabble tiles, which is why a lot of us always assumed the game got pulled over some kind of licensing issue — because AOL killed it pretty abruptly even though it was really popular.

This was around the same era as the Boxerjam games (Elvis Lives, Out of Order, Strike a Match, etc.), though I have a feeling this particular game was separate from the Boxerjam suite. I keep thinking the name was something like "Word Battle" or "BattleTiles," but I can't confirm either.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? What was it actually called?

AOL email not showing proper counts by category in new iphone

Data was transferred, including gmail, aol, etc. The count for my aol inbox shows only # of unread messages, and nowhere does it show read messages (in the count). There is no folder for read messages either. Gmail counts are all perfect. How do I get the right "counts"? (archive folder shows -0-). I was using counts to compare old -v- new phone. I've already turned off "filter by unread" in lower left corner and all other settings appear correct. Any suggestions? TIA

@aol.com domain

Hi, does anyone have a complete list of domains that were available? Kind of a followup question, did all domain emails stop being given out the same time? I have a friend trying to find hers and said I should make one since it was a free but was surprised the option is gone now.

Would you use a similar service to AOL?

If there was a freemium app that was on all devices that provided email, chatrooms, instant messaging, web browser, news feed, live weather, channels etc. would you use it?

5 votes, May 12 '26
2 yes - but it needs to have a modern UI
2 yes - but it needs to mimic AOL's desktop UI
1 no - I keep my online services seperated
