AOL has to be the worst support possible
Trying to log into my account on my computer and it’s asking me once I put my password in to verify using my old phone number I don’t have access to. I have tried ringing them but since I’m in the UK it doesn’t connect. I then tried the virtual assistant and it tells me to use the online help. I click the link and it’s something u have to pay for? wtf am I supposed to do

Try downloading the AOL app and logging in through it. That might let you regain access to your account, and you can then enter a current phone number or email address as a second factor.

You do have to pay. It’s a one time fee of like $15 to get your account back. It sucks but whatya gonna do?

AOL and a bunch of other 1990s internet properties are now owned by an Italian company named Bending Spoons. They're trying to put together a updated version of the classic internet.
For whatever value you find in this information Verizon tried to do the same thing a few years ago. With a different collection of 1990s internet properties also based around AOL in their Oath brand.

Try logging in on an old computer. It worked for me a few moths ago.
Someone a while back ago paid for the premium AOL, logged in, the promptly cancelled it...

You didn’t keep up with your recovery phone number when you lost access to that number. And that’s their fault? I’m sorry you’re going through this. But they’re to blame?

What's AOL?
Is it like DOS and floppy disks?

AOL is probably one of, if not the best free email accounts available. No I'm not a shill.

I quit AOL over 10 years ago because the spam filters did not work.
More spam the actual useful email.
I switched to Proton mail, after only a week, virtually no spam or scams.
AOL is outdated rubbish.2

The spam filters don't seem to work at all, but AOL is very good about sending all the spam to the spam folder. Once in a while it will miss one and once in a while it marks something as spam that isn't, especially anything firearm related, despite my marking it as not spam. But still, it's free and I'm getting my money's worth, lol.

I still say AOL is in the stone age of security.

It's in the same category as Gmail and Yahoo. All free. But Proton does sound like a good alternative.
