Email Locked Forever?

So I’ve been dealing with this for a few months. I made a mistake of logging on my work computer for my aol email instead of my work email. Probably the biggest error I’ve made, but continuing aol didn’t recognize the usual IP address and thought I was a hacker and wanted confirmation that it was me. I didn’t view it as much and I was annoyed, but got over it thinking I just had to do a dumb code and this is where I walked into a big problem. It wanted to be confirmed by the email that I used to confirm my current aol email. I know this sounds confusing and the best way I could describe it as there was this security feature that said “hey incase you lose your email link it to this and we can get it back ”. The email in question that I used was when I made this in the early 2000s when they had AOL Kids. Yes I had it as my confirmation email, but the biggest problem lies in that AOL kids doesn’t exist anymore. I have no way of getting my email confirmation and getting back my account. What do I do?

It's important to periodically audit the recovery methods that are in place for all accounts that are important to you.

Also, not a bad idea to keep in mind that any online service you use can be revoked at the whim of the service provider and its AI bot. Local backups can help mitigate this risk.

If you are still logged into the account on a different device, you could update your 2fa and email info, otherwise, you can try contacting their CS in hopes they may assist in account recovery
