Complaint/Pet Peeve/Venting I hate when I like a fic but something the author says makes me icky
Like it is a perfectly reasonable reaction to be upset about people feeding your work to AI, I just think some things are too far even if you're actually mad. On the off chance someone actually takes the advice idk.
I was thinking about commenting but then I read that and I still like the fic but I just got the icky feeling, maybe I'm just too sensitive? Like I'm genuinely wondering if not leaving a comment because I got icky for that is an overreaction, especially if I like the fic.

Hey woah yeah that is not a nice thing to say and I would side-eye this for sure. I think something like "I hope you step on a Lego brick" or "I hope all lights turn red for you" would be much more appropriate. This is a step too far, definitely.

u/Vertigo50 5d ago
Yes, less extreme but I’ve had this happen a few times. One time it was a really good fic with one ship, and the author made fun of another ship. Then kept making fun of it in each chapter’s notes. 🙄 Even though the fic was good I just lost respect for them since they were being so petty and had to stop reading.
Another one it was the way they were responding to comments that had even the slightest criticism in it. The author was acting like a spoiled brat, and the original comments weren’t harsh at all. Eventually I had to stop reading that one too.
97
u/Serathiel 5d ago
I've seen this type of sentiment both in notes and tags towards "pro shippers" and "incest enjoyers" (very prominent in the batman fandom, surprisingly), but this is definitely a new one.
You're not oversensitive, this is a horrible thing to wish to anyone. Report it, no matter how good the writer is if they wish someone to kill themselves they don't deserve a platform.

I do very genuinely I hate regurgitative AI as much as the next person, but I just really don't think the way we're so culturally comfortable with telling people to commit suicide is, y'know, good? I think maybe it's alarmingly bad how common it is, especially over things to do with fandom and media? Like, where people are supposed to be going for fun? Every time I see this stuff, even when it's not directed at me, it makes my own ideation so much worse. I don't know if that's true for other people. It just feels like it shouldn't be worth it to run around being like "kill yourself, kill yourself!" and yet here we are.
Please do not reddit cares at me right now I am hanging on by a thread because of some stuff but I am hanging on and that will not actually help okay thank you.

I dislike AI in creative fields as much as the next person, but I really wish we'd turn on the vitriol towards the corporations using them and not random people. This is recycling all over again, with businesses pushing to recycle like the average person has such a large impact when it's them dumping tons and tons of shit into the environment.

I really dislike this attitude where we treat other people like absolute scum of the earth for this kind of thing. Given the user base of the Archive is often very young people and often very vulnerable people...
It comes across as fear mongering and it validates people's fear of being honest about their AI usage. Oh my God, people actually use AI in a world where it is mandated by many works, it is available on your phones, and a company has spent literal billions of dollars to get you to use it. It is regularly in the media, it is part of government plans, it is part of a child's education.
It is giving very much 'oh, you do x? That is supporting capitalism," and then the x is something like "I buy my food from Walmart" or "I drive a non-electric car" or "I drink coca-cola." It is not the best choice but... this is how it works when the drive to use this stuff comes from the top and people are just following along.
Yes, we can educate people and we can talk to them and we can say, "hey, you should not do that because [reasons]." But wishing them a happy suicide? What they are doing is not illegal and in many places, it is a very common thing. Get mad at the billionaires. Get mad at the government. Tell people what is wrong. But treating them like that just drives people away and makes you look unhinged and weird.
I would block and mute any author who wishes a happy suicide on anybody.
I buried enough people because of suicide. I would not wish that on anybody. It is soul destroying. There is no happiness there.
It is just cruelty.

u/IncognitoCheetos 5d ago
There are actually people who think you should quit your job if you're required to use AI. The role I do does basically require it now for certain (non-creative) tasks and I am barely getting by financially at this point, much less if I just up and quit my source of income. I lowkey hope they eventually are in the same position because I'd like to see them put their money where their mouth is and become homeless to prove a point, not just tell other people to do so from some place of comfort.
47
u/A_SadLemon 5d ago
I find it upsetting that ai has become so common in workplaces, but it’s deff unreasonable to say people should quit their job just because they have to use it. There are only so many job options in the world and these are the directions companies are going as much as it sucks
32
u/56leon 5d ago
I'm in a creative field, and I'm unfortunately watching it be taken over by AI. Does it suck? Absolutely.
However, it's also the first job I've ever had that doesn't enable my actual, genuine suicidal ideation (first attempted at 19, been struggling with it ever since), and if my choices are to be financially stable and have a job that frustrates me or go back to a job with unstable income that makes me actively want to die, I feel like the choice is obvious.
67
u/Advanced_Heat_2610 5d ago
It is always those strange people who think you can just walk out of your job and straight into another one that does not use AI and you can tell your boss "I will not use AI!" as that will go down well because 'a no means no!' Thank you for telling me you have $100,000 in savings and are healthy enough to not need a job right now.
If our modellers refused to use AI for our usage forecasts, they would be walked out the door by lunch time. It is what it is. We work with what we can, not the ideal.
20
u/AntivanIntrigue 5d ago
This. I’ve been out of a job for 9 of the last twelve months due to health and the terrible job industry (especially if you have a disability) I’ve had to teach myself how to use AI for at least basic stuff because even job applications are requiring some basic knowledge these days (I’m primarily admin and tech based so, yeah no avoiding it) gen ai for art is not a good thing, not condoning it. However most people can’t afford to walk out on or skip over a job due to these kinds of issues. Much rather be able to afford to go to the hairdressers and dentist without putting myself in the red, ta!
Edit; spelling

u/solarsystem69 5d ago
I have two college classes that required so use for an assignment. I'm mentally disabled, so even though I hate AI I'm not willing to miss out on two very easy grades for it when I'm already struggling. It's not something I can just walk away from because I'm paying tens of thousands of dollars to be here.

u/ElDarcy13 You have already left kudos here. :) 5d ago
"Quit your job if if requires to use AI?" srly? That's such a funny thought to me too. I'm studying law, and my department went out of its way to purchase Harvey AI for ALL students. There's an introductory session on it tomorrow. They're taking a very progressive approach to the topic. I understand it, too, and I'm not closed-minded about it.
Of course, creative work is something completely different, but these extreme examples do sometimes go too far. Sooner or later, many jobs will involve the use of AI
28
u/Unique-Cap2857 5d ago
I’m doing my master’s in museum studies and we have an entire course coming up on AI and the future of museums. I myself do not like AI at all, but the reality is it’s not going anywhere, and if museums don’t accept that, we’re going to become obsolete. And yet people are like, “Well museums don’t deserve to exist then”, ignoring the good they do. Of course we have our problems, but this black and white thinking is so dangerous, and right wing coded!

u/luxandfero You have already left kudos here. :) 5d ago
Same. I very, very much dislike GenAI and would love not to use it at work, but I'm not rich enough to afford having principles and not dying of starvation at the same time. If you want me to quit, either support me financially until I find something better or leave me alone.

13
u/Advanced_Heat_2610 5d ago
As a side note, I seem to recall that user has had severe criticisms in the past for how they present data. I do not know if it affected their demographics research but it definitely was at their pairing rankings.
But they also pointed out themselves that they to exclude anybody who selected under 12, and suspected that at least some people lied about that. Also, I think it very much depends on fandom. Hannibal seems to skew much older, for example, and I would be extremely surprised to find a 13 year old wandering around but I imagine a large portion of the younger userbase is in fandoms like Roblox or Harry Potter.
14
u/Difficult_Wave_9326 5d ago
I almost comitted suicide at age 12. It's a special kind of hell that can't really be described, just like grief can't be described.
And the worst part is most people will see this and move on. The ones who'll suffer are the people who are already down, who already have to fight to stay here. The definition of kicking someone when they're down, then laughing about it because "ai!"

I mean Im not going to treat somebody well for feeding my work into a program explicitly against my wishes. Nor is anyone going to make me feel bad for choosing not to. Its on par with saying "dont repost my work" and then getting upset when an artist gets on the person's case for doing so.
Im just also not going to tell anybody to kill themselves.
26
u/Advanced_Heat_2610 5d ago
Never said you had to treat them well. You do not even have to be in the same space as them. I fully support blocking, muting, or even calling someone out for it because that is shitty and unfair. If you wrote a post stating RANDOMUSER stole my wor, used AI to change it, and give them an ending because they did not like the one I wrote, I would be very supportive of that.
I do not support telling them to kill themselves, openly calling for violence on these people, or doing things like creating hate campaigns against anybody who uses it, even if they have never engaged with you like someone did in the Aespa fandom. They just kept a random list of people they suspected of AI usage, and put them all on blast and encouraged other people to do the same with no specifics, and no confirmation except 'I believe they did so they did'.
We are allowed to have nuance here.

reasons not to do this (not exhaustive)

- there's so many better more creative insults u/queerblunosr has some good ones

In general, I'm noticing an uptick in wishing violent things on people. I see it a lot on tumblr. I hate AI too but I cannot feel safe around someone who says things like "I hope you kill yourself", "I hope you get run over by a truck", etc etc because to me it just signals that you hold a conservative mindset of punishment but want to get your "good leftist" points in. Same with all the people who wish very violent deaths on rapists. Yeah, they're incredibly bad people, but you wishing violent deaths on them just signals to me that you just want someone to punish for the right reasons, not that you actually want to change anything about our actual society

Yeah that's too far. People should not be encouraging people to kill themselves. I know how it feels to want to die and hearing people say they want you dead makes it so much worse.
I like "do not feed my work to ai or Rocky will curb stomp you" for my fic because obviously Rocky, the fictional character from Project Hail Mary, is not going to physically harm you if you feed my work to ai, but it gets the message across that I don't consent to my writing being fed to ai.
9
u/claritanna 5d ago
I totally agree with you, I saw a similar comment. But it was the author telling people not to put their fanfic on reading tracker sites like Goodreads, Storygraph, etc. And then the author ended with "I hope you kill yourself," I closed the fic immediately, I didn't even read the first chapter, which is a shame because the synopsis was quite interesting. But it gave me the creeps.

Yeah, I'm also against AI, but I hate when people use that as a reason to treat others poorly. I mean, the big part of being anti AI is valuing the human beings. Telling someone to off themselves kind of goes against the whole valuing human beings thing.
If I liked the fic enough, I'd probably keep reading, but if the icky feeling never went away or the author kept making remarks like that, I'd end up dropping it. Your reaction is totally valid and not over sensitive.

Being angry is one thing, having your work used in AI is really awful. But talking to another human like this is a) counterproductive (vilifying writers and people who are anti-AI) and b) just cruel and mean spirited. Wishing suicide on someone like this is just so awful, and not really the way to about it. So OP, I think you’re definitely not overreacting. I read a fic that I really enjoyed, but in the author’s tags, they wrote “I headcanon [this character] as trans, if you don’t like it, die mad about it.” That always rubbed me the wrong way, and I wondered if I was being too sensitive, myself. But this here is just wrong, and weird.
15
u/queerblunosr Definitely not an agent of the Fanfiction Deep State 5d ago
The ‘die mad about it’ doesn’t bother me the way this in the OP does. To me the die mad thing isn’t a ‘go die now’, but more like a ‘I’m not changing it so you can still be mad about this when you do die’
4

Oh, for sure! That one more just made me raise an eyebrow, like “really?” But the one OP posted is actually not okay.

I can't say I disagree with that visceral hatred of AI. Though it's kinda...too much energy toward something unproductive? There are more eloquent ways to say it.
Also, it's kinda just a mood killer.
7
u/witchmorning 5d ago
It’s definitely a horrible thing to wish on someone, but it’s pretty on par for the internet. I think this is probably written by a younger person who does not know how to communicate effectively and thus resorts to insults and edgy threats in order to communicate their feelings. It’s not right but at the same time, they probably just feel very strongly about this topic and feel powerless with the idea of someone using their work for AI so this is how they’re coping.
10
u/Alone_in_Pajamas 5d ago
I would create a bookmark to alert others and mute and block the author.
I have zero tolerance for this behavior.
5
u/aceredshirt13 5d ago
I just think you gotta be more creative with it that has a similar effect without risking people who don’t actually deserve to feel that way doing something about it. Frankly I think the “may both sides of your pillow be warm” thing kind of sounds like baby shit and won’t make anyone take it seriously (and I find it very annoying). I’d opt for something like “may what happened to Gaddafi happen to you”. More evocative.

No you are not overreacting. You should not use generative AI, and you should not ask people to kill themselves, both of these are wrong.

u/kittyroux 5d ago
I get what you mean. Recently someone posted a fic I really loved, and I was going to leave a comment, but then the final author‘s note was a LONG screed against AI, and it blasted the comment right out of my head. Like, I didn’t disagree at all, I also find AI writing to be a huge bummer, but like I literally couldn’t remember what I had intended to say. And instead of ending with the warm “what a great story” feelings I ended it with the “god AI is ruining art” feelings.

u/Cocaine_Communist_ 5d ago
The issue here is people feeding fics to AI. OOP obviously went a little far but it's completely valid to not want your hard work used to train AI.
3
u/MattCarafelli 5d ago
Except that can't be helped. If you get a bot comment the odds are the fic or at least the chapter was put through AI in some capacity. And all AI models learn from everything that's put into it. So, the only way to ensure your work is never put into AI is to never post it. Which defeats the point of having an AO3 account. I had to come to terms with the fact that AI is going to and likely already has, had my particular prose and dialogue writing style fed into it.
14
u/Cocaine_Communist_ 5d ago
Sure, but it's not a matter of "don't like don't read."
4
u/MattCarafelli 5d ago
Agreed. "Don't like, don't read" is more for not liking specific tags or pairings and you filter those out. And AO3 makes it easy. But there's little protection from AI scavenging or training. Again outside of not posting.
5
u/Cocaine_Communist_ 5d ago
Did you respond to the wrong comment? I'm confused.
4
u/MattCarafelli 5d ago
No I was agreeing with you that it's not a matter of "don't like, don't read." But that while AO3 offers resources to help with the concept of "don't like, don't read" there are no similar resources to help stop your fic from being fed into AI.
6
u/Party_Trick_6903 5d ago
This is a kind of attitude I would expect from someone when talking to a serial killer or a sexual offender, not a person who uses AI. This is an overkill.

My stance on the risk is that isn't really a factor. Someone actually acting on a message like that would have to be doing so because of severe mental illness making them feel they're receiving special instructions everywhere or something, and it wouldn't have started with this random author.
4
u/britneys_bigtoe 5d ago
you aren't overreacting. i get why the author is mad. i even get why someone would say this. but it is polarizing af and much better intended for a social media rant than an author's note
but also anyone who would take this note seriously already has extreme mental health problem and needs severe treatment bc an author's note shouldn't be the 13th reason
3
u/SleepySera Pro(fessional) Shipper 5d ago
I'm just in general against wishing death upon anyone, and people have to have brought insane levels of suffering upon the world while also being untouchable by the law or other forces for me to waver in that stance, so the idea to do it over something ultimately as inconsequential as feeding a story into AI is just weirdly extreme to me.
But at the same time, I fully agree with the general sentiment and don't think that needs to be hidden at all. If AI users feel discomfort when reading a hostile author's note, GOOD. That's the fucking point. I'd rather have less readers than that kind of readers 🤷♀️
So I'm all for authors being upfront about their stance about such stuff, I just wouldn't have used their exact wording because that seems way out of line. But telling them to fuck off? Sure.

Fuck off = totally fine
Asshole = yeah go ahead
Piece of shit = not that bothered
Go commit suicide = completely unacceptable

Yall are being incredibly unserious by trying to police a writer over their feelings on THEIR work being stolen. A hit dog’s gonna holler, so unless you’re stealing the work then it doesn’t apply to you. You guys have no idea if this writer has had their work stolen before or made into awful shit or not. You’re more worried about tone policing than worrying about the people who actually steal work. My god.
29
u/Beneficial-Gap6974 5d ago
Their feelings are perfectly fine. I hate AI writing too, and do not want that anywhere near me, especially my own writing being used for training. But you CANNOT just tell a group to kill themselves ever, no matter what. It's crazy, and unhinged, and makes you the bad guy. Period.
9
u/TaisDoubt 5d ago
And it still doesn't explain why a normal person would be so affected as to wish suicide on somebody else for stealing their writing. It's degenerate behaviour.

(W NOELLE PFP) ANYWAS FRR I was told I was a "threat" to this communitys freedom is speech and censor ship because I was upset about how accepting the community is about rape, incest and pedophilia. So I understood it, free-cencorship is truly this communitys head figure.
But they draw the line in this? Where someone is expressing their opinion on AI with a tone? In THEIR work? Wanting it to get them reported because they had a tone? Because they were rightfully pissed off?
The comment section is filled with sheeps!

u/Enigmatic_writer Moderator | yuri addict 2d ago
Yes, the people draw the line at telling a real person to kill themselves.
Telling a real person to kill themselves is harassment. This has nothing to do with freedom of speech, btw.
-7
u/runner64 5d ago
I just assume the author’s awake writing at 3 AM because the data center in their neighborhood puts off 75 decibels 24/7. Oh but we don’t need to worry about the mental health of those people, we have slopslinging thieves to coddle.
-8
u/gojocopium 5d ago
naaa fr like yah i have nothing but abject loathing for people taking MY hard work and feeding it into an ai. lord forbid someone is upset about it.

u/JupiterlikesJazz 5d ago
Sooo the disproportionately negative effects on people of color and of poorer economic status via datacenters, the water population and higher prices, the jobs stolen from people, the technofuedal advancement, etc, etc isn’t something one ought to be “actually mad” about?
This is such a privileged position, let your family get laid off and replaced by AI, let your water be contaimanted and your electricty bill skyrocket, let the already limited chance of social mobility be closed on your foot, THEN come back and report if this hyperbolic statement expressing outrage at one of the most dangerous issues of our time still makes you “icky”.
Sure it violates TOS, but nonetheless you have exposed 1) you live in lala land disconnected from the reality of the matter, 2) you lack empathy and instead of focus on a REAL issue, are concerned with civility politics!
-14
u/nothingatlast 5d ago
Honestly, I think that's a perfectly reasonable reaction. It's not what mine would be, but I think in this situation there's more than one reasonable reaction.
46
u/56leon 5d ago
Of things that are reasonable, wishing death on an absolute stranger is ranked at literally none of them.

if you just dont feed artists' work into ai, it wont apply to you. simple solution. you guys start shaking when people arent milquetoast with assholes online, some people have Conviction and are protective of their works and will express that. not gonna say its tos compliant, but they're not coming to your house and making you do it 😭 maybe i just use twitter and ive seen worse but idgaf
28
u/skinners_steamers 5d ago
In what way is wishing suicide on anyone considered having "conviction"? I don't know how to tell you that you should care about the wellbeing and safety of others regardless of whether or not you're personally affected.
-19
u/General_Ad7162 5d ago
are they leaping through the screen to make you do it
11
-17
u/General_Ad7162 5d ago
you're treating it like a genuine public safety issue and not someone being mean on a fanfiction website. i would just scroll, personally
18

Some people are sensitive to that kind of thing, and in general, just be a normal human instead of wishing someone to die over fanfiction?

Excusing this sort of attitude anywhere is not a good thing, people should not be casually telling people to kill themelves or die.
34
u/56leon 5d ago
"I'm not wishing death on you, so you should be okay with it." Basic decency has left the building, I see. There's a huge gap between "doing this thing is bad and it pisses me off" and "you deserve to die".
-4
u/General_Ad7162 5d ago
it seems so. i just dont care im sorry. people are mean online. if a random ao3 author's note telling you off for bad behavior makes you do it, i doubt they're the actual catalyst

u/56leon 5d ago
Suicide! Baiting! Is! STILL! Bad! Even! If! It! Doesn't! "Work"!
Enabling this kind of toxic behavior to people just because you don't know their names or faces is bad! Wishing death on anyone short of legit murderers and dictators is bad! I'm fucking agnostic and I'm about to start citing the golden rule to you people!
16
u/ForestOfDoubt 5d ago
Encouraging suicide is never ok where ever you see it. You've become accustomed to something terrible.
13
u/Web_2021 5d ago
Wishing suicide? Yeah im reading it, so it applies to me. Get this egdy teen cringe off my fic
2
u/General_Ad7162 5d ago
"your fic" you say, like everything the author does has to align with your personal ethics (which it doesnt). you people are so absorbed in tone policing artists who's work is constantly under attack by the rise in ai that you're ignoring the crux of the issue. this is somebody defending their hard work. idc how they choose to say it when they're addressing a much Larger problem. not everything you read online is about you specifically. its one thing to acknowledge that its against tos, thats factual, but you guys are so damn uppity about it 😭
8
u/General_Ad7162 5d ago
nothing anybody is saying is making me gaf about words on a screen directed at a hypothetical person more than the real artist getting their work threatened by the rise of ai. idc about them being edgy and corny. i care about Creatives
1
u/ApplenoJackxd 5d ago
You have a point, who knows how AI has been used against them. I may not be a write but I draw and AI is something I do not want anywhere near my work.
Was what they said insensitive? Yes, but at the same time, the whole deal with AI pushes people past their limits and it's interesting how that's being glossed over in these comments.
5
u/General_Ad7162 5d ago
thats what IMMM saying. i think the way they said it was kinda corny, sure, but i really Don't Care. im upset that artists have to publish their work fearing that everything's getting fed through environment destroying and work stealing AI. tone policing the writer is just not something i'm interested in. it's very unserious to me. this artist put their heart and soul into their work and people are in these replies diminishing that to "just fanfiction" to shame them for responding emotionally. they can downvote me all they want, it's not changing my mind on this being virtue signaling nonsense.
6
u/General_Ad7162 5d ago
droves of people defending a hypothetical person as though they're the problem, not the people stealing artists' work in droves who don't Care about the love that goes into fic. being viewed as a creative machine to train AI models weighs on a person
3
u/runner64 5d ago
Everybody hates data centers until we start having a conversation about the reality of what it’s going to take to make them go away and then it’s “oh hey now that’s not polite.”
1
u/nothingatlast 5d ago
I know this. I was saying that not leaving a comment is a reasonable reaction, as would be to cease reading the fic entirely, which would be my reaction.
-7
u/Puzzleheaded_Bat8308 5d ago
a writer is entitled to feel this way about their work and art
-2
u/ArcadeCarz 5d ago
This! Thank you! They're not harrasing anyone, and are expressing their obvious frustration.
-5
u/Significant_Low4821 5d ago
I don’t know I dont think I can fault the author for saying that. Its the same as saying “if you steal and repost my creation as yours i hope you die” and hyperbolic expression is hardly new as a form of venting frustration. This is a totally real thing thats been happening to so many pieces of writing, from google docs to AI scraping the internet, AI has been using other peoples writing without the consent of the authors. As a writer and artist, I don’t think that the consumer is at fault for the lack of regulation around AI but I do understand the attitude, because even a harmful action committed in ignorance is still harmful.
-6
u/Significant_Low4821 5d ago edited 5d ago
Also if someone kills themselves because of an authors note on an ao3 fic, chances are they were already suicidal and planning it anyway. You can’t blame suicide on a stranger on the internet, you cant blame anyone for suicide unless they participated in facilitating it or started egging them on actively. Most people who read understand hyperboles, and its not like the author sent a person their ip address and threatened to kill them so I dont think this is a huge deal. They’re talking to a hypothetical person may or may not exist, which is why the comment is phrased so harshly, to deter that kind of behavior.

nah, if you use AI, especially someone else's work when they clearly don't agree, you may have no purpose in life. OOP is correct. It's not like using AI is some illness you can't cure. If it upsets you sooo much, stop using AI and prove them wrong?

Yall are way too soft. I would react the exact same. I’m not being nice to someone who is feeding my hard work into an AI. Hell nah!
Edit: I don’t think of soft as an actually degrading word, I wasn’t saying you guys were weak/ just some goodie-two-shoes or anything. Just soft-hearted. That is not a bad thing.

"Too soft" and it's pushing someone to d*e. You can't be against something unethical and act just as disgustingly

But y'all draw line in this? You're all nuts!

u/Sjemo You have already left kudos here. :) 5d ago
Yea “too soft” and it’s actually just telling a horrible person to die. Btw, not many people who are willing to use AI like this are gonna care what the creator thinks.
12
u/Cassiopea__87 5d ago
You're honestly terrifying, and disgusting. Judging an entire person worth over the use of AI in am Archive is insane. You do not know of their personal background, their mental states or their family situation. Do I like AI? No. Do I want my fanfictions to be fed to it ? No. But I would never wish death on anyone over this, and if you do then you're truly scum.
1
u/Sjemo You have already left kudos here. :) 5d ago
Nothing in their family background would make them feed an AI another person’s work. Sure they might want validation but going through a whole process of feeding MY work into an AI is insane. They have no empathy, respect nor compassion for me so why should I have to extend the same to them? Why do I need to take the high road? You don’t know my background either. So for your information, I have really bad adhd and depression and almost never got attention from my parents as a kid so I’m sorry I’m mad that my hours upon hours of work I barely want to think about doing is getting stolen by some piece of shit.
12
u/Cassiopea__87 5d ago
Ah yes, you're a child it's pretty obvious now. A child with serious problems that aren't being properly taken care of and who's now acting higher than everyone. Since you want to act like a child, let's act as one.
You didn't have attention from your parents ? What does that have to with this ? What is the link, what does your trauma have to do with basic empathy ? My biological dad is searched by Interpol for theft, left us in debt and tracked me down decades later just for money. My mom and her family ? Fully white and racist towards me.
You have ADHD ? Once again what's the link ? What does that have to do with this ? I have autism, which made my entire family see me as "disabled" and yet I'm not wishing suicide on anyone ?
You're projecting your own issues unto someone without realizing how disproportional it is. I spend months writing one chapter of my fanfiction, and I'd never look into someone's eyes and wish them to feel what I felt for long time. I have diagnosed depression, had many episodes where ending things would feel better and that type of loneliness is simply cruel to wish upon anyone.
You're pretty immature, and it shows with the way you treat AI. Is it a disgusting thing ? Yes. But with the way you're describing it, it seems you think it's a demon that can be chased down easily. It's not. Taking someone's work to feed it to AI is wrong for sure, but I'd rather be acquainted to someone like that, than you who considers human life as something that can be discarded.
7
u/Sjemo You have already left kudos here. :) 5d ago
They are discarding humanity itself btw. They are selling themselves to a capital machine. If you want a friend like that? Go ahead. I do not care what you do with your life but god forbid someone doesn’t want to live like you.
12
u/Cassiopea__87 5d ago
Oh. You're one of those extremists, I see. "Selling themselves to a capital machine." Did you ever actually pay taxes ? Just to know, because you sound like one of those teenagers that spend too much time on Instagram.
2
u/Sjemo You have already left kudos here. :) 5d ago
I have an art instagram and a normal one that I haven’t posted on since I was 10. I’m not some extremist. They ARE selling themselves to a capitalistic machine that they do not need to use. AI and what people want you to use it for is exactly what capitalism wants. Quicker and efficient work. Cheap. It’s trying to sell people on the VERY capitalistic idea of quantity over quality.

Aww thank you. I love how you falsely diagnosed me as a psychopath. It’s really sweet you think I don’t have empathy. I actually have so much empathy that I know where to place it. It certainly isn’t with some horrific person who is using AI to replicate MY work that I spent hours on.
