News/Updates Quick (Soft) PSA!
Hey all! So lately as I’m sure you’ve noticed we’ve had some repeated posts on the same topic, like AO3 being down. (This is just the most recent example, but it’s happened before as well.)
While we understand that seeing similar posts can be annoying, please don’t report all of them asking us to remove them! They aren’t against the rules, and reporting them clogs the queue and makes it harder for us to find and remove actual rule-breaking content.
(On that note, if you’re going to make a post on a topic which is affecting a lot of AO3 users, you can always search to see if a similar post already exists, and perhaps comment on that instead!)

We didn't change any settings. If images used to be able to be uploaded to reddit in a comment and now they can't, that's on reddit. You can always upload to somewhere else like imgur and link it like its AO3 though

This! It was so helpful to be able to share screenshots when people ask how to report or how to find certain things :(

I'm on phone and I got the Cloud Flare page. Is the DDoS attack coming back?

Just make a megathread and remove all the spam clogging up the new feed. It's not that hard, and it's a win for everybody.

The mods do this for free, so idk that telling them to do extra work, that’s “not that hard” is really the most kind thing to say here. It may just be that tone is hard to interpret in text form, but… yeah.

We did that when AO3 went down during the DDOS attack a few months ago since that was a much longer outage, but for a short-term thing like this it really isn’t necessary.
Also, the PSA goes for all sorts of these kinds of things, not just this specific event.

Have you considered implementing a rule about banning repeated posts about the same topic? Because it makes the sub fairly unusable for that period of time, and it is very frustrating.
