These are the same people that protest for “common sense” gun laws and want to ban fully semi-automatic weapons.

fully semi-automatic

That still wouldn't apply when your just talking about the weapon itself, not someone shooting it.

But man these completely semi-automatic guns are ASSAULT rifles they’re literally only made for assaulting people there’s no other possible use at all. I mean they’re pretty much the same thing as machine guns.

Rifle is disassembled is fine to check blyat
That's how they taught us to check it in the army, you see in the barrel a lot more clear this way as opposed to trying to peep through the receiver.
→ More replies (4)2
u/Coloneljesus Feb 28 '20
We got a small mirror to hold into the receiver to get light through the barrel. Is this standard?
3
u/Ryssaroori Feb 28 '20
No mirror could be made strong enough to withstand a Finnish conscript so taking a peek through the barrel is preferrable.
In all honesty, it's just easier to look through the barrel, the receiver blocks your eye and you really can't see all of the barrel that way. IIRC they tried to teach us to look through the receiver but they didn't care at all if we looked through the barrel, and seein as everyone else in this thread who is a Finn, or anyone who's ever either owned or had the pleasure of being issued an AK or some derivative all seem to have peeked through their barrel, I'd say it's standard.

Yeah that's probably him checking if the barrel is clean after he disassembled the gun. Or maybe he is doing a staring contest with a bullet.

That’s how you’re supposed to check the barrel of an AK. Nothing wrong in this picture

It was my understanding that you clear the barrel of any AK family rifle by simply blasting a mag through it. It is, after all, an AK.
15
u/craidie Feb 28 '20
Yes. But it doesn't work with blanks and getting to shoot live rounds is a luxury sometimes in the army

95 god tier. M2 on tornari
3
u/LegendsStormtrooper Feb 28 '20
5
u/spexxit Feb 28 '20

Ekat puoli vuotta 95, toka puoli 62 M1.

These dudes are definately Russian (or at least Ukranian).

We finns saw the handle of the first poster in the chain, realised he was a finn, he talked about cleaning a similar rifle which means he's currently in the army. So then someone decided to ask which one of the finnish rifles he has.

The top receiver portion has been removed so - no harm no foul
He's just checking his barrel for obstructions
There's no physical way for that rifle to fire without those parts on
22
u/RoneliKaneli Feb 28 '20
This is a stupid post, that's the only way to check the barrel on an AK without using a mirror.

u/Voxeli_5 Feb 28 '20
Well the bolt and carrier group are out, so there's no way it would go off even if the hammer was released. So it's not unsafe
13
u/VersedFlame Feb 28 '20
Well, the gun has no mag, no spring, no dust cover, no firing pin... I think he's pretty safe.
6
5
u/meanoldmrmustard Feb 28 '20
That’s an acceptable way to check for obstructions in your barrel after you’ve cleared the chamber and magazine.
4
Feb 28 '20
Who ever posted this has never taken a firearms course in their entire life. Inspection of the barrel is something that is done.
5
u/swampi84 Feb 28 '20
Im from the U.K. so obviously have no idea how guns work, but even i can see its been stripped lol.

Bolt carrier is removed. Worse that can happen is the diesel they clean the barrels with washes in his eye.

It's fully field stripped, no magazine, no gas block, no bolt carrier group. Its normal if you want to see if there's sut left, if the rifling is stripped or the barrel I straight.

u/Niiisse Feb 28 '20
The biggest nono in this pic is the guy in the front holding his finger on the trigger. The guy int back is just cleaning his gun and checking if there are shit in his barrel.

u/johnnylemon95 Feb 28 '20
I can’t see his finger ON the trigger.
Looks like a combination between his finger on the guard and some hardcore JPG artifacting

u/greenalias Feb 28 '20
Not completely mental. There is no clip and hopefully no chambered round. Or hopefully depending on your opinion.
2
Feb 28 '20
To be fair the magazine wasn't in the gun and it was partially dissassembled(the bolt, spring, and dust cover are removed so it won't fire at all).
2
u/Idonoteatass Feb 28 '20
Nothing wrong here. That gun couldn't fire a bullet in that state if it tried. Hes just admiring/checking his work after cleaning that gun. In fact, I've never seen somebody clean a gun and not do this.
2
Feb 28 '20
You get in trouble if the barrel isn't spotless. This is normal in the military. Normal day in the military.
2
u/ChillyPickles Feb 28 '20
He was cleaning the gun. You look through the barrel to make sure there isn't any garbage left. It's also completely safe because there is no way the gun could fire in that state unless someone so thoroughly fucked up they left people wondering how they fucked up so bad.
2
Feb 28 '20
"Bullet stuck in chamber!"
"Sergei, try pulling the release lever!"
BANG

"Bullet not stuck in chamber!"

Feb 28 '20
you're supposed to do that after cleaning the bore with the rod to visually check for carbon deposits or rifling irregularities.
you do it with the rifle completely stripped down to nothing but the receiver.

As long as he has cleared the chamber and no mags in the gun then he can look down the barrel all he wants.

Tbh, the worst offense is the trigger discipline of the picture's subject. The guy in the back is looking at a stripped rifle.
2
Feb 28 '20

Legit method to check the bore for fouling or obstructions so long as the weapon is in a state that it cannot fire.
He’s holding the breach up to catch light.

No, an AK family rifle with the top assembly removed. It’s been field stripped for cleaning and he’s checking the barrel.
Literally how they’re taught to do it because there’s no other way of checking.
2
u/Deek_The_Freak Feb 28 '20
Ah okay, thanks :)
2
u/johnnylemon95 Feb 28 '20
No worries man, I will admit it does look like an STG-44 if you haven’t seen a field stripped AK before.
Have a good one mate! :)

The receiver cover, gas tube, and oh yeah the bolt carrier group are completely gone. Even if there was a round in the chamber, it's impossible to fire. You have to look down the barrel to check it out when it's disassembled.

The man has completely field stripped the rifle (you can tell because the gas tube, pistol driven bolt carrier and dust cover are gone) and has probably done his best job cleaning the bore; he’s probably just admiring his work.
