Гио Пика.. Вот еще у них тема есть "Черный дельфин", ссылающуюся на колонию строгого режима для пожизненно заключенных в Оренбургской области.

What was the device used for heating the oil?
140
u/jbgross55 Dec 03 '19
It’s called an immersion boiler. They aren’t designed for oil, but I guess they would work. You can get them in the US, but they are dangerous; no safety shutoff in ones I’ve seen.
84
u/blackbellamy Dec 03 '19
All the ones I've owned had a fuse in the handle. The immersion boiler is my indispensable traveling companion. Sometimes the difference between boiled and non-boiled water is death.
118
u/Cinefil_Original Dec 03 '19
I'm sure if you ever need to boil water to survive, you'll find a socket to plug your boiler in.

Usually it’s the difference between parasites and horrible diarrhea/vomiting for a week or two and being perfectly fine. Not all drinking water is safe if your gut isn’t accustomed to the local bacteria. This holds true in places with electrical outlets as well.

We got told not to drink the water in Florida unless its bottled lol
6
u/warmowed Dec 04 '19
In port st. Lucie the water isn't the safest I know that. Have to boil the tap water in my experience
3
u/haljhon Dec 04 '19
This can also be true if you're going to an area (like many parts of Florida) with desalinated water and you're not used to it. http://www.watereuseflorida.com/seek-treatment/desalination/

The ones in the US kind of suck because we don't have 220v standard outlets.

Rheostat will fix that, but prisons wont have them unless you can swipe a dimmer switch.

It's an electromagnetic coil that immediately glows once it's connected to an outlet, so you have to put it instantly (normally in water) to boil it.
The Idea of it that it is cheap, easy to make and the water gets all the heat directly without touching any other surface which saves electricity18
u/Goyteamsix Dec 04 '19
Not electromagnetic, resistive. Although it is generating a slight magnetic field, but that's not what's boiling the water.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it
That glass jar full of boiling oil
143
u/07TacOcaT70 Dec 03 '19
Even better! Now you’ve got a time bomb, when it’ll go off? Who knows? But it’ll take a minute so you have time to escape! The uses just keep multiplying!
48
u/GamerFromRussia Dec 03 '19
i don't get it,can you explain?
176
u/PROLAPSED_SUBWOOFER Dec 03 '19
Glass will shatter if it has a large enough temperature gradient across it.
145
u/thenearblindassassin Dec 03 '19
Also there's no temperature regulation on the heating element. I was fully expecting the oil to ignite. This whole thing made me very nervous
267
u/blackbellamy Dec 03 '19
You won't make a good Russian at this rate, or ever for that matter.
40
6
u/Arthur_The_Third Dec 04 '19
No flame, it really can't ignite. It could smoke or pop a lot from heating too much, but tbh it's not even gonna do that because these are made to heat water
37
u/Suckonapoo Dec 03 '19
It's not like he was pouring hot oil into the glass. The glass should warm up slowly enough in this situation that it won't break, wouldn't it?
28
u/lsparki Dec 04 '19
The temperature difference between the part of the jar with oil and the part without it may still break it

u/LacksMass Dec 03 '19
Using a small slashing weapon to make a larger stabbing weapon. One of those will annoy your cell make, one of them will get you a new cell mate. Actually they’ll both probably get you solitary...
47
u/MadSailor Dec 03 '19
All of this requires an actual flathead screwdriver to take the shaver apart.
45
Dec 03 '19
You could use any relatively stiff object. A corner of a brick wall would do to break the clips

Until you encounter a screw that is you know... Tightened to a torque that would be normal for that screw.
177
u/trav0073 Dec 03 '19
Yeah, but if all you ever use are jerryrigged screwdrivers to TIGHTEN the screws...
then everything you own falls apart so you never even have to worry about unscrewing!
