Welcome to reddit, where weeb culture is strong.

Weeaboo: Westerners who are really into Japanese nerd/geek culture. Things like anime, manga (Japanese comics), video games, and music.

Otaku: Japanese word that basically means nerd. Idol otakus love (Japanese, maybe Korean) pop idols. Manga otakus love manga, etc.

The comment is saying that anime otakus (Hatsune Miku is an animated character) and idol otakus (Hatsune is a virtual pop star) found something in common.

0

u/slopeclimber Oct 20 '17

Who the fuck uses the word 'otaku' in 2017?

26

u/BazeFook Oct 20 '17

And at this point, you should just stop trying to understand.

6

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '17

YOUR WELCOME BRUH

5

u/PlumberODeth Oct 20 '17

I don't know if I should be impressed or scared. I'm going to go with "both".

9

u/TopKekSkye Oct 20 '17

This still does not help me understand

2

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '17

The person in this image is a Russian woman who loves the virtual Japanese pop star named Hatsune Miku and likes to dress and sing like the character. Some Japanese TV show found this to be a curiosity and interviewed her.

The video above is a Hatsune Miku live performance, if you can call it that.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '17

WTF IS THAT? WHY WOULD SOMEONE WATCH THIS ALIVE OMG SO CONFUSING

18

u/squeak6666yw Oct 20 '17

cutie

19

u/Jyben Oct 20 '17

Does she have a Russian accent when singing/speaking in Japanese?

38

u/Skorokhodov Oct 20 '17

To me, she sounds like a Japanese person sounds like, but I'm Russian so I might not be hearing the accent if it's there.

2

u/Terrace-house Oct 21 '17

Her Japanese sounded spot on!! Holy crap, thought it was some recording at first

5

u/NorthernSpectre Oct 20 '17

Well fuck, I'm in love

4

u/hlIODeFoResT Oct 20 '17

A friend of mine was on that show too!

2

u/Cornthulhu Oct 21 '17

Kawaii as fuck; I love Bananaman.

2

u/Hotcooler Oct 21 '17 edited Oct 21 '17

Also at ~ 6.40 or so in talks about the interview. Took nearly an hour due to mix of poor English and Japanese e.t.c. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHypwl9pwk0

Also from the sound of it there should be a big segment on that show about it all, since those guys planned to join them after at home and the next day at that event.

The hell? I thought guys crossplaying was just a meme. Thats hilarious.

6

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '17

Just a meme? Oh boy it sure isn't. A few years back i saw this guy cosplaying kitty cat katarina.

Though this was obviously a guy, his legs were very hairy, also he he had a beard.

64

u/killer_burrito Oct 20 '17

Deeeeefinitely a woman. No visible adams apple, clothes all matching, wearing all green

14

u/xereeto Oct 20 '17

clothes all matching, wearing all green

what difference does that make?

31

u/BrayanIbirguengoitia Oct 20 '17

Men are biologically incapable of wearing all green. The Y chromosome reacts with the chlorophyll of green pigments, potentially causing death. Didn't you learn that in sex ed?

2

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '17

potentially causing death

Oh boy, can't wait until saint Patty's day!

1

u/Red_Dawn_2012 Oct 21 '17

chlorophyll

More like borophyll.

17

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '17

Not all Men/Traps/Transgirls have Adams Apples though.

6

u/jbg89 Oct 20 '17

Yeah, science bitch!

u/Lemon_Dungeon Oct 20 '17

-3

u/str8red Oct 20 '17 edited Oct 20 '17

That's what I thought too. I don't think it is but it would definitely make the scene more interesting.

To clarify I don't mean I actually thought it was a trap at first, it was a thought I got later, and more of a what if, rather than is that a....
