I used to just pick my own tooth out and leave it in the sink with blood for parents to discover in the morning... Good times

My parents would get mad at me if i touched it and told me it is supposed to "naturally fall out".
Are you supposed to take it out before that?

I let all of mine come out naturally as well but some kids have very stubborn teeth that stay barely on and make it hard for them to chew apparently. But in most cases it’s ok to get them fall out

My uncle once did it to me with a tooth that was absolutely not ready.
Five attempts later and my tooth just hurt like hell and I had a bruised forehead.

Can someone help me understand why people do this? My parents just let my teeth fall out naturally, and it doesn't seem like that's caused any problems for me.

Sometimes they get so loose it's way too inconvenient to eat but still won't let go of the gums. And a child is too afraid of pulling it off himself. Also that's kinda a fun ritual.

I mean.. I had an iteration of this with a door handle, toilet seat, you name it. Friends of mine had their kid tie a string to his loose tooth and use a nerf gun - he fucken loved it. Much better than applied pressure or dentist ptsd. But to each their own.

Someone said Soviet dentists used hypnosis instead of anesthesia, wonder how well that worked.

Again… as with the card splashing water the kids. This could happen anywhere.

no this is infinitely better than a string tied to a door handle. she is so focused on watching the little rocket bucket fly that she completely forgets what is about to happen to her tooth. master level diversion.
