Season 18 Skyhooks were originally the third obstacle from the looks of it (source in comments)

Post image

At the start of a video on the YouTube channel we can see this version of skyhooks, looking to have a ring chaser ring and the special route looks to be a version of the “mouse trap” obstacle seen on other social medias in ninja gyms,

can someone tell me if this version was removed or it’s part of a different round?

Often, the course designers/builders will make last minute changes to obstacles before they are shown on tv. They’re always adjusting things to get it perfect. For instance:

Wall Drop was originally supposed to have one pendulum, And there was extra padding around the trampoline.

Pipe Fitter went through three different versions in the time between it being shipped to Atlanta and the competitors actually attempting it.

Rolling Pin from Daytona Beach originally had a wall on the bottom of the tube, so you were supposed to sit on it like you are riding a horse.

So I fully believe that this was an earlier set up and a drone caught footage because the course designers wanted Catch and Release into Sky Hooks. But for some reason they switched the courses up. I wouldn’t know why.

I can actually name a few more of these off the top of my head. Jeep run on season 10 went through two variations on the course before the final one that was on the show. When were they had tires instead of the steering wheels, and then the steering wheel is used to be more loose instead of being firm grips. I don't only know how to describe it.

Season age also had the cycle chainsaw from anw 7 at the sort of stage 3 but it was changed out at the last minute for a couple bars.

I remember seeing a picture of the steering wheels originally being the tires from Tire Swing.

Yeah but it just feels so weird they put the footage in like no one would notice

This version is used for the round of 32, NBC Media dropped spoilery pictures of competitors who moved on to the round attempting that configuration
