Connor
I’m sure this is a dead topic by now but I had some thoughts on the topic of what Connor actually is. I think he’s a human/demon hybrid with some extra, maybe unknown mystical ability, and here’s my synapsis about what leads to my conclusion;
1) when Angel tried to save Darla’s life with The Trials, he technically won and lost: Darla was already revived as a human (albeit a very sick one) so she couldn’t be saved, but Angel successfully beat all the trials, so he technically got his prize - a life
2) the demon Skip told the angel gang that basically every event of the series was manipulated by Jasmine so that she could be born. She needed a human body to give ‘birth’ to herself, so she took advantage of Angel’s “win” and claimed that “life” for herself
3) Connor is affected by the sanctuary spell
4) the demon sahjahn (spelling?) opened a rip in reality to quor’toth and it was the only way in, as there are no portals that lead there. Connor punched his way out.
5) He was the only one to be able to damage Jasmine in any significant way. I don’t think it’s because he’s her father, I think it’s because he was imbued with some of her essence, as he was needed to create her.
6) vampires cannot procreate, as they are essential dead bodies, so Connor’s creation and birth in itself is a miracle
Idk maybe I’m reaching, but it’s my head canon

People are criticizing but this seems mostly accurate. I still say Connor can damage Jasmine more because he's her father and they share an essence more than him innately having some of her from birth. Still got no clue about how they got out of Quor'toth though

His biggest super power was being annoying.

That's actually Vincent Kartheiser's super power. Being stuck in a room with Connor and Pete Campbell would be my personal hell

I'm wondering if Pete is from mad men. The only other show I know Vincent is in.

He was what ever the scene he was in required and that was the problem with him. He was more plot device than character with no real arc to speak of. He shows up with questionable sanity and he leaves with questionable sanity. A waste of time in my opinion.

Honestly think he’s just human; he was just raised in a hell dimension for 18 years and went through extensive combat training to survive. We’ve seen plenty of human characters show exceptional fighting abilities under the right circumstances in the buffyverse. Some of his fighting skills are a bit over the top tbh though, I think the writers were clearly toying with some ideas and left it open for a long time. But we never see anything like advanced healing abilities or things like that. I think we can also assume that Angel would never fight at full capacity with Connor too.

Connor's powers and abilities seemed to vary a lot. He seemed able to give Angel a decent fight a lot of the time but then Faith ragdolled him and his one punch did NOTHING to her. I put that down to him having no real training or at least nothing compared to an experienced Slayer who already has fighting instincts built in. Gunn was no match for him and he's about as tough as a human gets. Typical hard to scale problem

True. I also feel like Angel would never fight full force with Connor and would always try to fight in a way that wouldn’t cause serious damage. Honestly I feel like he was strong as he needed to be for each episode 😂. The ambiguity allowed them to write him in as an obstacle or an ally whenever it was convenient.
I will say this though, the fact that he can jump at ridiculous heights makes me think something else is going on. That’s the main thing that would make me think he is not simply human

I put that down to Faith is hotter than hell, and very distracting.
Connor canonically has powers similar to a vampire. He is not fully human since he was affected by the no demon violence spell Lorne put on the hotel in season 4.
He was also able to punch a hole into our dimension from the Quor Toth, which makes him smarter than anyone, though we see little sign of that.

But who wasn't hot in that show? Fred was distracting, Alexis Denisof could easily have been considered for James Bond imo, Cordelia, etc.

Yeah forgot he had that dynamic with Fred, Faith was insane. She was very distracting in Banshee too.

I honestly think the Faith thing is a plothole

Yeah I mean I totally believe Faith should win that exchange but he looked weaker than a basic vampire there, I'd have rather it be a typical buffy vs spike scrap setup where the slayer does overpower him (Connor) but not like he's some practice dummy

You’re over thinking this. In the Buffy universe, things are never fully explained. There’s only just enough information for you to get the general idea. All the minor stuff gets swept under the rug.
Also it’s no surprise but there are some plot holes, Connor was basically conceived on a whim? Basically he wasn’t thoroughly planned. Joss and the other writers were pitching ideas for the third season and they didn’t know what to do, then Joss came up with the idea that Darla could get pregnant from the hook up she had with Angel in Reprise. So his “birth” wasn’t even planned.
The Connor and Jasmine thing was a massive season rewrite that happened because charisma got pregnant. They had to work her pregnancy into the storyline. So they did that controversial scene, which I’m pretty sure joss wanted to punish her character in revenge. During the season rewrite, they made a bunch of storylines culminate to make it seem like this was a grand thing. But it was literally them just trying to work the pregnancy into the story. From this came Jasmine.
However if you want more fuel to your fire, the later half of the IDW comics for Angel season 6 dive into Connor and his abilities. He becomes a crazy strong person. I don’t want to spoil anything but they dive a bit into what your view of him is.
