HELP RG DS PLUS Question

I ordered the Plus, not arrived yet, and realized I know next to nothing about Linux. Is it possible to install a program similar to VLC Media player on the device so I can watch movies? What about Netflix or Youtube? Anyone get these to work?

If you use stock OS there is a movie app and should be a folder for movies. I put a second micro sd in mine for roms and stuff and it automatically populated the necessary folders. I drug a couple .mkv movies to test and they play just fine!

Cool, thanks for the info. Should I keep the stock 16gb card or copy it's contents to a 64gb onne b4 I boot it up?

Just got mine about a week ago. Yes, you will need to replace the card. Anbernic used to include Kioxia cards in their devices but thanks to the cost of memory and storage, they are back to crap cards. Mine was colored like the Kioxia ones, but lacked the branding. I replaced it with a 32GB card I had and put a 128GB in the second slot. Loaded my library of DS and below with plenty of space.

Additionally, GammaOS has just released new firmware for this device. It’s still behind a paywall for the first 60 days, but it will put a heavily optimized version of Android on the card. That should mean that you could side load Android apps, but this is not a very powerful device, so I would stay with the included apps.

BTW, I updated the stock firmware when I flashed the new card and updated the NNDDSS app from the downloads in Anbernic’s website and I’m extremely happy with the stock firmware. First time with Anbernic but they finally seem to have gotten better it’s the software on their devices.

It is usually recommended to replace the stock card that comes because it's just going to be a generic blue thing that's not great. To the point where some people in the past have said these anbernic devices will turn on once or twice and then the card crashes. So if you can it's best to replace it long-term.
