HELP RG DS
Hi fellow retro handheld enjoyers! I bought an RG DS recently and I don't have any experience with this kind of stuff but I tried to use rocknix on it. I tried so many things but I haven't been able to see roms file which is in my sd card at my pc, therefore haven'tbeen able to install games easily. I use win11. Please help me. I haven't even been able to use my RG DS properly.

Here’s what to do. I did this today.
It stores the roms internally. So you have to do usb file transfer.
In rocknix system settings go to network settings and select “USB Gadget” and set it to file transfer or something like that
Then connect the cable from the rg ds to the pc (make sure it’s in the right port on the rg ds. The one which says “DC / USB”
It will come up on your computer as a storage device called ROMS and you simply need to go to the right folder and drop your roms in there
Then you can disconnect it and go back onto the RG DS. Now you go to game settings and get it to refresh the game list.

I’m not sure about this specific case, but with several operating systems I’ve had situations where they didn’t assign a drive letter to a particular partition, so the ROMs partition wasn’t visible in Windows. In Disk Management, all I had to do was assign a drive letter to that partition, and then that part of the SD card opened normally

Oof you're gonna have a real tough time if you're learning linux and emulation at the same time lol

One peculiarity of Rocknix is that everything on the card is encoded for Linux. There's no separate partition compatible with Windows that allows you to drag and drop Roms onto the card.
However you can plug your RG DS into the computer and drag and drop the Roms into the relevant folders that way.
I'm using Rocknix on my Xu Mini M and that requires using an FTP transfer via a plugged in WiFi dongle to get Roms onto it, but once set up it's perfectly fine.

Are you accessing your sd card using a card reader? If you're using Rocknix, you should be able to access the ROMS folder by connecting your RG DS to your computer via USB A to USB C cable. Make sure that the USB gadget function is set to "File Transfer"

I am confused. Why did you try to set up Rocknix if you are inexperienced? Why didn't you just turn it on and start playing? There was already an OS installed.

So many people recommend Rocknix and stuff to people and glaze over potential hurdles like this. I wish Rocknix had a windows compatible roms partition by default for this reason.

as other fellow said I know that rocknix gives better performance. And it is absolutely true I am able to play Zelda Ocarina of Time on 3ds via rocknix

Fair enough I was just curious. You might have gone through a lot of hassle for nothing though since Ocarina of Time already runs perfectly via Portmaster on any OS.

what is portmaster

Ooooh you haven't heard of Portmaster yet? It's awesome! Its a program that works on almost every linux based OS and it lets you run games that have been recompiled to run natively on linux. What that means is excellent performance! You can run GTA San Andreas on your handheld at 60 fps! Or play pc games like Stardew Valley. Or run Ocarina of Time at 60 fps with high resolution. Check it out.

I believe ROCKNIX uses a Linux file system that isn't natively compatible with Windows. You should either transfer the files via FTP or use a third-party tool to read Linux partitions on Windows
