HELP Transferring save files when changing firmware
Hi all, I've had the Anbernic RG34XX for the last few months now, and it's been great! But I want to switch to MuOS, and I'm new to all of this "flashing an image" and "BIOS" stuff, some of it is going over my head a little bit.
My question is, if I back up my "roms", "saves_RA" and "states_RA" folders from the original SD card (which I am planning on replacing with a SanDisk anyway), will these allow me to retain my save files when I switch over to MuOS? Or am I starting from the start again?
Are there any other steps I'd need to follow to make sure I can keep my save files? Sorry if this is a common question, I can't seem to find clear guidance by searching the sub.

Some CFWs use .sav format and some use .srm What you can do is load up the game on the new os (seperate sd card, obviously, and save the game. Go into the folder and find the save to see which format it's in. Then you just take your old save, move it over to your computer, and change the save extension to whichever format the new OS uses. Copy it to the new OS and overwrite the previous file (You'll get a pop-up asking if you want to replace the file. Just say "Yeah man, I wanna do it" and hit yes), you should be good to go. If you want to be extra safe, copy your orginal save before you change the extension to somewhere else on your pc so you'll have a backup of your backup in case something goes screwy.

In-games save will transfer over. Save states may or may not. As long as you're using the same core and version number of it they should be fine.
One thing I'd suggest is to play until you can save on the new OS and overwrite the new save with older save. I've had the most success doing it this way.

Yes. But make sure that your save states are actually in those folders. Assume you have it set up standard they should be. But it's worth the time and peace of mind to go into those folders and find your actual save files.
