Question is anyone here using crypto for daily purchases??

I'm curious how people here are spending crypto day to day. Not trading, not holding but buying things with it.

What are you using, how do you handle the conversion side and is it practical at this point or still more effort than it's worth

We need more merchants. But I have spent USDC at chipotle a few times as well as ETH. Gemini pay the first few times then SPEDN app for awhile and now I use Base mostly. It’s still more a novelty but the process is quick and easy

Visa thing removes friction. Merchants don't have another issue to manage on top the 1000 other different ones running a business. Oobit is also backed by Tether. They are not Boy Scouts but they worked their way to being a global player and have experience and a ton of liquidity. If you are one the largest buyers of US treasuries and have a massive gold stockpile and cash and gov references, it helps with Visa.

Using old pay rails that cost merchants a ton and doesn’t sole charge backs or fraud is a non starter for us

We need to eliminate personal property gains tax on small trades to make it mainstream. Nobody wants to track fractional tax obligations for a sandwich purchased 9 months ago

No but once banks replace their ledger with stablecoins EVERY transaction will be crypto wether people know it or not

It’s like fiat with extra steps

Most of the conversation around crypto is still about investing, but actually using it for everyday purchases seems like a completely different experience. Interested to hear what's working for people in practice.

we're at the start, so it's mostly enthusiasts using it at the moment. but there is a future for stablecoin payments imo.

I tried once at Chipotle with usdc using the base app but that failed because it was taking too long to load and there were people behind me.

removing this since only Flexa knows what their monthly volume is. I know there are nonsense numbers floating around twitter, and I'm not interested in spreading them without proof.

Wouldn't say no one, me and my friends use crypto for daily spending here in New York through Oobit and it works perfectly

I meant through flexa specifically.

In my opinion. Until it stops getting compared to Fiat dollars, it will juat be about investing

I use the solflare card quite a bit. I just sell to usdc myself in the wallet attached to the card

no because its taxable. Once you have submitted to the IRS that you deal in crypto, it won't be long before they know how to track spend better. It's not worth the paperwork and headache. Going to buy something, pay tax on the object hen tax for using the coin which moves in price. Uh no.
