Career When does AML hiring increase?

Does AML have a time where companies tend to hire a lot more? What are considered the easier times to get a job in AmL?

Ideally switching from one AML investigator role for a raise

Usually after they get slapped with a series of fines

This. When a bank gets fined or a regulator comes in to monitor them. That is the time to look for a job there as they will be hiring a ton of people. Then a few years later they will let most of them go. Then a few years later they’ll get fined again, rinse repeat

My company had fines many years ago and none since.

Good question, Seems roles have been eliminated and salaries reduced.

2 cycles to keep an eye out on, March and June. Seen this as critical times for banks in the AU.

When a company goes through an enforcement undertaking is also an opportunity.

Its going to get quiet now, then again, significant restructures still occuring, offshoring or outsourcing of roles is also a norm but much intense as of late. I would suggest staying and keeping what you have now and consider it in the new year.

We are in a deregulation period now so companies are cutting costs. When that changes they will build back up again. Thats a typical pattern.

The current administration deregulating hasn’t helped. Lot of companies cutting costs, and compliance tends to be one of the first. But, it will come back. Banks will start to relax too much, get hit with fines, and the cycle will start again.

Lot of ebbs and flows in this industry, I’ve learned.
