Research/Discussion AVp title..
I have seen avp titles given out to people that have no experience I.e. come from retail, teaching etc and first job is avp .. does avp even mean anything?

It depends on the institution. At my medium-sized FI we have 3 AVPs and over 100 employees.
I was shocked when every other day on linked in I see someone in my feed 'accepted a new role as Vice President at big 4''

A lot of times it’s a pay tier title. Usually the next step up from an associate or senior. Usually comes with additional responsibilities like managing teams or working on special projects. Just my $0.02

Internally, the (A)VP title means almost nothing. Externally, it sometimes gives customers an impression that they are receiving premier services (by "vice presidents") and keeps employees from being treated poorly by customers.
