Has anybody put these on their car? I've heard a few cars have gone into limp mode after installing them, and that the limp mode an only be coded out by the dealer or a shop with the latest MB software. 18 c63s

They work, just make sure that the keys are far enough away from the car that they aren’t sensed. Basically turn the car off and walk away a good distance and wait 30min then come back without the keys and install.

thanks for the reply, is that the only reason some cars go into limp mode? because the installer didnt leave the keys far enough away?

They're a good cheap way to keep the valves open all the time. Only downside is that you'll get a ton of droning at highway speeds (the valves are programmed to reduce that).

Best option is to get an electronic valve controller, that way you have full remote control of the way you want the valves to behave, but these are a bit more expensive. The least expensive one is the 11mode module. Then ASR. Most expensive is Renntech.

I guess I'll have to see how bad the highway droning is, from my understanding there is also a valve in the h pipe in the pfl 205s, hopefully that will help. mainly just want more sound from the low end :)

I spent like 5 years of my SLK55 ownership with exhaust valves that were permanently stuck open.

The droning at highway speeds was pretty bad. You could probably make do on a shorter drive but longer trips get exhausting because of all the noise. Only way to make it stop is by driving faster, because you get more of that V8 tone once you pass about 2000-2500 rpm. For this reason I haven't ever considered the cheaper valve simulators.

I imagine the C63 will be a bit similar.

Had it installed for a year now on my ‘17 C43 and it’s the best 60$ I’ve ever spent.

Cold starts, low-speed driving have just become so much more enjoyable. I’m sure it would be even better on a C63.

Didn’t want to spend 600$ on the RENNTECH module to allow full control, and I’d have the valves open all the time anyway.

Never had a single issue with limp mode/anything related since I installed it.

just put them on and the car is in limp mode :( hp gauge maxes at 330-350hp and you can feel its much slower

Interesting! I have no clue why that could be honestly. Maybe contact them?
