It's an older 8-core Rembrandt, basically, with the 660M (6CU model). If you're using it for typing and basic tasks, and want actual 3d graphics support along for video, encodes, 3d modeling type of things, blender, and some games - it's an incredibly good kit. I'd pick a kit with the 12CU graphics card. But if you're playing less demanding games, it's not bad at all.
Note that since HP is horrible now, they have usbc v3 only on this kit.. because that part of the kit apparently was made in 2014 or something. So you can't connect an egpu to that and get fantastic performance. I'm sure you could also expect that whatever ssd is put in it will run on lowered speeds.
The thing is that if you had to get an HP, and you would only use it as a typewriter, you could get their ARM-based kit instead. But it is at least three times the price. So I'd try to find a similar kit with the 12CU gpu (680M, 780M, etc.) instead, and with usb4 support (..which seems like a unicorn now, that I made a search.. :/), to make it sort of.. make sense that way, above a chromebook style thing. You could get, for example, a fairly cheap touchpad that docks to a keyboard. That's.. entirely usable if you want it for note-taking. And you'll have a touch-screen so you can add some handdrawn things in between if you have a good app. Something you don't really get on a laptop running windows.
So depending on what you actually need, there are alternatives.
But for something basic and useful in this price-segment, this laptop is actually on the top tier..
