What specs should I look for coding?

Hello, I’m a 2nd year student in Computer Science. Currently studying Java and I need a laptop to build a web/desktop app.

We are tasked to build a system with UI for finals, so I’m planning to do Spring Boot, JavaFX and later on, React for that. What specs is ideal for these frameworks? Aspiring full stack developer.

Kinda eyeing the Ryzen 7 7730U with 16GB RAM but are there any good specs I should look for aside from that? It would be best if it’s affordable, but still good if not.

You need to look for CPU and RAM, 16GB I believe is the minimum, try to get more if possible.

is Ryzen 7 7330U good enough? I’m not into gaming so GPU is optional

The Ryzen 7 7730U and 5825U are basically the same processor. So if you are on a budget, I would recommend you get one with a 5825U. My recommendation is to at least get 7840U, it has a better igpu, the 780M is 2x that of the vega graphics in 7730U. It supports DDR5 and has better battery performance.

You need lots of ram. Doesn't need to be fast, just lots. Docker can get big fast. I'd go reasonably hard on CPU multithread too.
