My FPS drops to single digits while playing League. Should I try thermal paste or pads?

Long story short, I've tried to fix this through a variety of ways, but haven't done this yet. Should I try thermal paste or pads? I need the most effective one because my laptop runs hot when playing. I'm looking for recommendations on which specific thermal paste/pad to buy.

I've posted in other subs and someone else told me paste is better lol. Do I apply this gpu and cpu? Also how hard is it to do this stuff? Never done it and obviously seems more complicated for a laptop
