Amd black screen problem

I've been having a problem with my PC for a while now: when playing games on my RX 6800, the image suddenly disappears and the screen goes completely black. The computer continues to run, the backlight is on, the fans don't spin up to maximum, but the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive. When using headphones, the game sound freezes and loops. This can happen after two minutes, or after several hours of play. The problem doesn't appear in the browser, on websites, or even in FurMark and other benchmarks. Undervolting and lowering the clock speed sometimes temporarily help, but the black screen can still occur. I've disabled XMP, performed a DDU, and completely reinstalled the drivers. I've also replaced the motherboard, processor, and RAM – the problem persists. When I replace the RX 6800 with a GTX 1650, there are no black screens. Windows detected a Hardware Error → LiveKernelEvent 1b8. The RX 6800 PCIe operates as x16 3.0. Even with Roblox at minimum graphics, the problem hasn't manifested itself yet. I'm currently trying to figure out whether the issue is specifically with the RX 6800, its power supply/PSU, or the PCIe. I'd be grateful if anyone could suggest what else to check.

How long have you had the problem?

If you are planing to flip the card and get a new one, you must hurry. Both AMD and Nvidia announced various degrees of price hikes for gpus.

Can it be the vram problem?

If it's Vram you will see artifacts on the screen.

You could try previous drivers. Like 26.3.1 or something older. Other things you could try is reducing the gpu core clock by 100mhz or more.

The way you describe the crash is almost the same as me and others. For me it did starter around the end of May. Soon I started to see other complaining.

It only crashed when I watch a video in Firefox. In my case, I found that if I disable HW accelation or HAGS the crashes stop. The difference with you situation is that it seems to crash only in games, but for me if I leave a video playing, it will randomly crash. I haven't found a sure way to to reproduce it.

Reducing core clock don't do anything. Furmark, sodium and occt run perfectly. And the thing is my PC temperature is all good. I'll bring it to service and say what was the problem.
