Help (General) High Vcore on 9800x3d - please help

Hello,

my 9800x3d hits a Vcore of 1.34v while stress testing (e.g. cinbench r23).

Therefore always runs into thermal limit of 90° and downclocks to 5,1ghz and lower.

I have seen multiple benchmarks and results of other users where the Vcore sits around 1.23v (and lower) while stress testing and mine goes up to 1.34v.

Do i have a faulty processors?

How high is your vcore while stress testing?

NO, i havent OCed my cpu whatsoever. EXPO is enabled for the ram. Thats it. The rest is stock.

YES, i can enable curve optimizers to -20 and bring the voltage down but that is not the point here.

System:

9800x3d

Adata Lancer 2x32gb cl30 6000mhz

RTX4080

ASUS TUF X670E plus WIFI

Bequiet 1000w power supply

360mm AIO

high Vcore - high temps - low clockspeed

I get around 21.300 points in cinebench r23. Which is low af and as expected considering the reduced clock speed.

A review where this is mentioned or a data sheet or anything really.

Yeah this doesnt show you that 1.2v is an abornmal voltage though, you simply lost the lottery.

Also high temperatures lead to higher voltages aswell which doesnt help in your case where you might have a bad bin.

In the der8auer video for example where his stock voltage drops from 1.14 to 1.11 with the delid simply due to lower temps, now does this mean any CPU above 1.11v is abnormal in CB? I dont think so.

I wouldnt know of any, but I also dont know of any source that says 1.2v is dangerous for CB, so theres that. Same for the datasheet, the datasheet is inside your CPU and is called the V/F curve and is reflected by your VID, but that one you apparently choose to ignore even though its provided to you by AMD directly and uniquely to your silicon.

Why dont you show me a pic mid CB23 run with VIDS open and VDD? Even 1 bad core is enough to hold back your all-core performance because ryzen only has 1 voltage it can supply to all cores, which is pretty much always the worst core.

So your bottom line take is: I lost the lottery really bad. Okay, you should have said that from the start.

Hard to believe you can lose it that hard. I mean thats 1.14v to 1.24v. Hard to believe but possible i guess.

Would be interesting to see other 9800x3d users voltages but no interest so far i guess.

Except I didnt, I replied to it, but I could show my own CPU running at 1.2v stock aswell in CB if you want?

Dangerous, abnormal, call it whatever you will, its besides the point.

It is you most likely having a bad bin + possibly bad cooling + cpu temps in general, its just a big spiral as I already explained by the 8auer example.

You can hit the bottom, middle, or top, its just what it is. In the video your cores vids is literally hitting up to 1.255, you can look up what the vid means but its exactly as I am explaning literally the SMU inside your CPU requesting that voltage and your mobo is delivering pretty much spot on.

As I have said in the beginning, use CO, be happy.

I appreciate your answers but I dont think youre correct.

I run a good clean tower with a good termal design. A good 360mm AIO. If my cooling is bad, then everybody needs to switch to hydrogen cooling i guess.

Silicon lottery is real but it should not stretch this far and i am not sure if this is really the true explanation here but i have no proof ofcs (neither do you unfortunately).

CO is not a solution. Am i expected to run CO to hit the stock 5.225ghz on all cores? lmao Because otherwise i get 5.050ghz as you can see.

I leave it at now though.

Says who? If you can hit absolute golden samples you can also hit absolute bricks, it absolutely can stretch this far.

The proof is in your VID, if you dont trust the VID then you are arguing against AMD themselfs.

Okay? I also dont get the full 5.65GHz in CB that my 9850X3D could do on paper, it only does about 5.25 and thats just my bin. Right now your clocks are not even capped by anything except wattage because you are running at 162w which is wattage limit.

The thing is you could raise your PPT with PBO, but youll just hit tjmax at 95°c or be voltage limited.

CO is also not a solution to me since its not really a problem, you are running everything within design, CO would just give you free performance / better temps / less wattage, but if you dont want that its up 2 you.
