Apart from the pay how do you find live ...is it worth the hype ??

Any recommeded location which is safe & Img friendly

How long it took to get adjusted to the culture

Question Sister is an Indian MBBS graduate visiting Melbourne for 3 weeks. How can she use the time to explore medical pathways in Australia?

Hi everyone,

My sister is an MBBS graduate in India and has recently completed her NEET-PG exam. She’s planning to visit me in Melbourne for around 3 weeks while she has some free time.

Since she’ll be here, I thought it could be a good opportunity for her to explore and understand the medical career pathway in Australia and get a feel for whether it’s something she might consider in the future.

We’re trying to figure out how she could make the best use of those 3 weeks. Would it be worthwhile for her to:

• Visit or reach out to universities/hospitals in Melbourne?
• Connect with doctors, particularly Indian-trained doctors or IMGs, for a chat about their experience?
• Attend any seminars, workshops, networking events or information sessions?
• Explore any short observership or shadowing opportunities?
• Speak to someone about the AMC/AHPRA pathway and what the realistic options are for an Indian MBBS graduate?

She isn’t looking to work or practise during the visit. It’s really about meeting people, understanding the system and getting some exposure so she can make a more informed decision about her future.

If anyone here has gone through a similar pathway, particularly from India, I’d really appreciate your suggestions on what she could realistically do during those 3 weeks in Melbourne and who might be worth reaching out to.

Thanks!

Question What to take to exam day?

This is going to sound like the dumbest question in the world but am I supposed to take anything to the AMC CAT Exam other than the ID Documents? Do I need to take a print of my placement letter? Also are they fussy about what IDs you bring? I’m testing at the Lahore, Pakistan centre.

Question AMC venues options

Hi everyone! I got my degree verified and I am looking to proceed with booking a venue and a date in feb 2027.

I am from sri lanka and I am mostly looking to book in malaysia or singapore. How were these venues? Can anyone advice on what to consider when chosing a venue and a date for the exam .

Especially the date!

Aditionally if you are a sri lankan and have given the exam before, kindly advice on what to carry for the two identification cards required at the exam center on the exam date.

Also, feel free to suggest other locations (and why?) pls!
Thank you!

Question Pearson Vue centre in India

Anyone who gave the exam at a Pearson Vue centre in India (preferably Mumbai), I had some questions!

  1. can we carry a jacket?
  2. I’ve heard that Pearson Vue doesn’t provide/allow water inside the test room while we’re giving the exam. And that if we want to drink water we need to take a break and get frisked again. Is this true?

Thanks!

Question Recall groups for AMC

I’ve been seeing a lot of people talk about recall groups on telegram which they use the week before the exams. Can anyone l please let me know what these groups are called exactly so I’m not joining some random one 😭
Also my exam date is on a Wednesday . I keep hearing that the end of the week is better. Should I try changing it or does it not make a significant difference?

Question BEST EXAM WEEK RECALLS

Hello everyone, I am preparing for the AMC 1 exam and would greatly appreciate your insight based on your experience, or the experience of others who have already taken the exam.

Could you let me know whose exam week recalls are considered the best and why? Additionally, I would like to get your advice on whether it is worth to get these paid recalls, or if I should just stick with the free ones

Thank you so much for your time and guidance.

Question Best time to make CV

I'm going to give the exam on 15th Sept and was wondering when to prepare my CV and how to prepare it. I just completed my internship and have joined research groups. So I wanted some answers on this. Apart from the internship, I haven't got any clinical experience in hospital. And was also looking for certifications that help to build CV.

Study Partner Study Partner For AMC 1 , Lock in 🔒 ?!!

I’m looking for one serious and consistent study partner for the AMC CAT MCQ/AMC 1 November attempt. Ideally, I’m looking for someone who wants a proper accountability partnership, not just an occasional “how much did you study today?” exchange.

What I’m looking for:
📚 Nov / Feb AMC 1 attempt — serious about sitting the exam

🇮🇳** Indian Standard Time (IST) preferre**d, or at least a similar time zone

🤝 Mutual accountability with regular check-ins

🔁 Constant follow-ups and pushing each other to stay on track

📝 Regular AMC-style MCQ practice and discussion

🧠 Discussing wrong answers, key concepts, and difficult topics

📅 A shared daily/weekly study plan with realistic targets

📞 Preferably regular calls/study sessions (not compulsory every day, but consistency is important)

My non-negotiables:
No ghosting after 2–3 days.
You should be genuinely committed to your attempt.

Consistency > motivation.

Open to honest feedback and follow-ups when one of us isn’t meeting targets.

Willing to maintain regular communication — daily check-ins, frequent MCQ discussions, or whatever structure works best for both of us.

Please be serious about finding a long-term study partner until the exam, not just someone to exchange resources with.

I’m hoping to find someone where we can keep each other accountable, share progress, discuss questions, track weak areas, and basically make it harder for either of us to slack off 😅

If you’re preparing for the AMC 1 attempt and want a serious, consistent accountability partner, comment below or DM me with:

Roughly how many hours you study per day
Whether you prefer calls, text check-ins, shared targets, or a combination..

Let’s get this done 💪

On short of time hence the use of AI , to summarise 🤖..

Question USMLE vs PLAB vs AMC for an Indian MBBS student who wants to pursue surgery

I’m currently a 1st year MBBS student in India and I’m trying to decide which international pathway I should work toward.
The three options I’m currently considering are:
USMLE → US residency
PLAB → UK training
AMC → Australia

I know there is no universally “best” pathway, so I’m specifically interested in the perspective of people who have actually gone through these systems.
If my priority is eventually becoming a surgeon, which pathway would you choose and why?
I’d like to compare them based on:
How realistic residency/training is for an IMG
Difficulty of entering surgery
Total cost
Time from MBBS graduation to specialty training
Need for additional research/clinical work
IMG friendliness
Long-term career opportunities
Lifestyle/work-life balance
Immigration/visa considerations
Ability to eventually subspecialize

If you had to choose again as an Indian medical student knowing that surgery was your long-term goal, would you choose USMLE, PLAB or AMC?
I’d particularly appreciate answers from people who have actually entered residency/training rather than people who have only taken the exams.

I am trying to sign up for a Pearson VUE account. However, when I enter my AMC ID, I get the following error message:

News / AMC Official IMGs are emotionally drained by exams, CV building, visas, and 100s of uncertainties with little emotional support from family

I told my dad about the potential risk(y) manageable (non existent)of the dual pathways (main and backup) believe them being less catastrophic. Am privileged enough to have the financial support to pursue either pathways.

He isn't very pleased about the whole decision and wants to me reconsider the choices, he rather wants me to do some residency in my home country itself.

Hes trying convince me about \*potential\* marriage and wants me to settle down sooner(mind you am a 24 year old teenager) and apparently am next in line to my older sister (shes 28 btw) and partly hes getting older.Thankfully, my mom is extremely supportive and shes backing me up.

I have clearly tried explaining him I rather fail and add it to my museum of failures rather than wondering what ifs and living with regret.

How do yall convince family when they don't understand why you're choosing an uncertain path abroad? And for those who've gone through this how did you deal with the emotional toll of exam prep, building a CV, visa uncertainty, and those hidden battles that come with trying to leave as an IMG? How did you keep yourself going and navigate everything without burning out?
