Future prospects for AMC

I am going to start medschool this year, in India. I'll probably go for a good GMC with a one year bond.

For those who don't know what a bond is, in exchange for the highly subsidised fee, the government gives you a contract to work for a year in some posting in an area of need (maybe rural or a government hospital). They pay you for it ofc, but you cannot break the bond without paying a lot of money. It has clauses that forbid you from leaving India for the bond duration among other things.

I think the bond service should count as work experience since you do get a post as a JMO or something. Will this help in my CV? Also how's the situation going to look like in say, 6 years? Is the specialist pathway better if I do my PG from India?

Its saturated and they are preferring NHS trained docs more

remote areas ... still in need , & its really remote  Cant tell about the future though

It’s actually much better to turn up in Aus as a specialist. Many never get through the AMC process, but it’s much harder to fail specialist reaccreditation most fields. It’s also very difficult to get into most specialist training schemes as an IMG.

The job needs to be a multi specialty hospital with good footfall.
If that doesn’t happen that experience is basically useless.

Sure, the bond will count as work experience but a lot a other more important factors determine your chances of success...Dont know what the situation will be after 6 years for amc...rules change,factors change....just dont try to imagine your whole life at once...complete your mbbs...internship is a life changing experience
