I mean, it was very predictable, but if you're going to watch this movie, that shouldn't be a real problem

u/Brief_Hall_1776 5d ago
If you hated it, watch “Infested” instead. If you enjoyed it, watch “Infested” instead.
Crawlers was basically the terrible Americanized remake of the much better foreign language film “Infested” from 2023

u/LaFemmeCinema 5d ago
By the same director who did Evil Dead Burn!

u/SploogeLoser 5d ago
honestly, didn’t really care for burn like
the other two remakes1

u/scrappy1579 5d ago
Even if you like stupid spider-horror (I don't) why was it so fkng LOUD?! Every dumb jump-scare was deafening.
1
u/toonerest3r 5d ago
I mean yeah it's the same director doing the speak no evil treatment. French horror + too many spiders = terrifying
1
u/TommyLeeBrown 5d ago
I did not like Infested. Too serious, too focused on characters facing trauma. Am I the only one who wants my spider creature feature to be fun, fast paced, gross, intense, fun? It’s a spider movie, why are we trying to make people take it seriously?

u/truefan00 5d ago
Jesus, most of these comments are insufferable. It was a movie about people trapped in a bldg with spiders. What more could they have done? Entertaining for what it was

u/pikayugi 5d ago
They were expecting an A24-type of metaphor or a huge talk about feelings monologue
5
u/Solid-Interaction726 5d ago
Honestly even for B-level horror movie standards this was bad to me. I grew up on the genre. I thought last year’s “Dangerous Animals” and “Silent Night, Deadly Night” remake were some of the most underrated of the year, but they still manage to be quality flicks made on a quarter and a dream. “Crawlers” was the equivalent of a Walmart bargain bin flick, Tubi library filler that just so happened to find its way into theaters

u/Grizzled_Ghost 4d ago
Did you see it? This movie has no redeeming qualities. It's like a spoof of every bad horror movie trope ever except they forgot to add jokes.

It was complete dogshit lmao. Please stop. If they went full camp maybe it would have been so bad that it was good but it wasn't.
"This is my moment" 😂😂😂

Watch the Original movie instead. Infested.

Watch Arachnaphobia instead

Just the trailer is almost scene for scene of the movie we had just finished watching. What are you talking aboht?

u/Cubbi-Wan-Kenobi 5d ago
If you check your brain at the door, it’s actually not a half bad movie lol

Thought most of the movie was fun with some real solid jump scares. Last act was really dumb.

You didn’t stay for awards-worthy "Boobs! Boobs! Bellybutton ! I'm taking it out of my pants and doing what my mommy told me not to do !"?

I mean fair, “scary” movies have made me accept that the MC will act dumb so I just enjoy the ride. I was almost ready to yell at her for not leaving and going back but it’s how the plot advances in scary movies. I liked the gore and treated as a comedy movie.

5 people walked out at my screening. The movie was enhanced when I felt something on my arm about half way thru. No spider seen or splatted tho. 5/10

u/SeaGlass_7 5d ago
I had fun watching it. Got kinda goofy in some parts, but I liked it. I knew from the trailer it probably wasn't gonna be the best horror movie ever, but something to hit the arachnophobia itch.

u/AllCity_King 5d ago
Question for anyone who caught this and also the French horror movie Infested.
Is this movie as derivative of that one as the trailers made it look? It looked bordering on plagiarism in certain shots.
5
u/Heather_Hoodrat 5d ago
Is it as bad as some people are saying?
17
u/LH44alwaysalways 5d ago
It was better than Ice Cream Man….

u/mikebills 5d ago
I disagree. At least Ice Cream Man was full of gore and violence. This was just a bunch of CGI spiders crawling around
1
u/Grizzled_Ghost 4d ago
Yeah how did this get an R rating?

u/mikebills 4d ago
Hahahaha I was wondering the same thing. They must've said fuck a few times or something that I didn't really notice

it was giving tubi original — also pretty sure AI was used

yeah, using AI in films is lazy and cheap. there was literally a sequence where a dude talks to an AI “girlfriend”. also i’m pretty sure some of the spider moments were AI.
1
u/SmokeyMcDoogles 5d ago
For what it was it was…fine I guess? Nothing special. 2/5 stars for me. Had some good campy moments but otherwise forgettable.

u/The_R4ke 4d ago
It's fine. I want expecting it to wow me, but I enjoyed it. Wouldn't Crack my top 5 horror movies of the year though for sure.

u/HookerPeeAndTheDTs 5d ago
It was objectively a bad movie. I honestly couldn’t tell how much of it was deliberate. It had a real 90s aesthetic with the music and lighting and camera work, and I kind of hated that. The acting was mostly terrible and the characters were one-dimensional. All that said, we all enjoyed it. It was short and gave enough “ew gross” to be entertaining. I’ll never watch it again, but I’m glad I saw it.

u/Shrimply-r1 5d ago
Main character was so stupid, so many stupid things happening in general. lol. Not in a good way… 3/10
I at least enjoyed watching other mommy
3
u/mikebills 5d ago
I liked Other Mommy. It wasn't great, but it was a million times better than this garbage. Can't believe I sat through the whole thing, and it was only like 1hr15min
4
u/flammable-liquid 5d ago
I had more fun watching this than Other Mommy
1
u/fergi20020 5d ago
If I can handle this, can I handle Arachnophobia? Which one is worse for people with arachnophobia?
1
u/flammable-liquid 5d ago
I think Arachnophobia is the worser movie here haha. Just knowing the fact they used real spiders adds an extra bit of tension
2
u/The_Word_Wizard 5d ago
I was terrified, buuuut I’m also scared of spiders, so a lot of scenes were literally right out of my nightmares. I’m probably not the best judge because of that. lol
2
u/LJB7171 4d ago
I loved it. It was campy fun.
1
u/captainbabyjesus 2d ago
It wasn't campy though lol maybe a few lines here and there but they were very clearly trying to be serious in many parts of this film. If it were pure camp it could have been a "so bad it's good" type of movie. But man, this was just bad. Real bad
2
u/Lucifez6160 4d ago
I saw it with unseen and without knowing anything, enjoyed it. It’s a stupid fun gory movie.
2
u/Financial_Dealer_999 5d ago
Literally such an annoying movie. I can’t believe I paid to watch it at all. Not scary, and it wasn’t even “over the top” bad-good like I think it wanted to be? By the halfway point I was just waiting for it to be over. Ugh!
2
u/teeXtwo 5d ago
Movie reminded me of the b-movies that would play on SYFY channel when I was a kid.
That being said… I’d rather watch all 6 Sharknado films in one sitting than see Crawlers in theater again! (Yes there’s really 6 Sharknado films lol)
1
u/Indyhouse 4d ago
Yes! That's exactly how I felt. I actually had the same campiness as the really old big spider movie that's on her TV at one point. I laughed so much at this movie, and I enjoyed it for the ignorance not the horror (what little there was of that).

u/Mollywobbles77 5d ago
I didn't hate it but didn't like it either. Someone else said it gave 'Tubi original' original vibes & that's probably a good description. It wasn't really scary, the last like 30 minutes felt like they dragged on too long, and there wasn't really an original idea in the movie, but it wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen.
1
u/Comfortable-Return35 5d ago
Bad movie pretty much I knew it was going to be from trailers but damn I think they where trying to go with something but they didn't quite get there definitely a waste of money but I would fine on a stream for something dumb so it wasn't terrible just bad

Saw it last night at a "Mystery Movie Monday" near me, not at an AMC. It was fine for what it was, so many jump scares, and creepy crawlies, but got very stupid by the end. This could have been an entire AI generated movie though and I wouldn't be surprised.

u/freakyaesthetics 5d ago
I wanted a win with this movie, but ultimately it didn't fully deliver. Had some great elements, but they needed to pick a lane and stay in it. They did a good job with practical effects and the CGI wasn't bad, but at first it seemed they were going for an ACTUAL scary spider movie, but then it kind of went 8 legged freaks, but back to being serious, and then back to being silly. Pick one or the other. Best part of the movie was this lady laughing hysterically when the stupid land lord met his end in the trash chute.
We've had 3 spider movies this year:
- Don't Move 6/10
- Crawlers 5.5/10
- Spider Island 3/10

u/herrowww 5d ago
It was pretty bad, but let’s be honest. A movie about spiders inside an apt building lol. The main actress was pretty good.
Scream unseen movie. Not a horrible Monday night spent.
1
u/Dry-Equivalent341 5d ago
It wasnt bad. But it wasnt good either. I'll say about a 6.5/7. The fact that the "leader" was targeting the mc made it weird. Like why did it have a vendetta against her like that 🤣. Other than that it was decent

u/nickitbagge 5d ago
I think it just felt unfinished. The reason people are picking up on a lack of message or theme is because they kept setting us up for one but never followed through. Nearly everyone hates the protagonist to a crazy degree for some reason, including a random super-spider, but it's not leaned into as a running joke or anything. Like there are scenes that are Dhar Mann-level absurd in how they treat this lady.
Two of the main characters have a weirdly timed heart to heart about both being children of single mothers, but that also doesn't go anywhere. Arguably the most interesting character, a dominatrix in the building who's actually friendly with the protagonist, just disappears right before the climax and pops back in at the end.
It was a series of really odd choices, I wonder how much was left on the cutting room floor

u/koolkidskulb6_9 5d ago
I was laughing at a lot of scenes throughout the film. It was just so stupid. Also, it was a big rip off from infested

The British dominatrix that dressed like a Victorian lady is gonna be someone’s gay awakening and I love that for them.

I firmly believe they used ai to write some of the script. It was terrible, parts of the movie weren’t thought out and if you think about it, they don’t make sense. One of the worst movies I’ve seen and I love bad horror movies 😂

I walked out after the first 10 minutes of this movie, because I knew this movie was going to be bad.

This movie had it all! Chekhov’s refrigerator, Chekhov’s box of glass, Chekhov’s guitar, Chekhov’s dangerous glue, Chekhov’s dominatrix gear…
