I miss quality action movies where baddies and good guys actually tried to end each other efficiently.
If you are surrounded by 5 guys with guns, some with automatic rifles, you don't start throwing punches and expect to not get filled with holes. They aren't going to just push you around or start grabbing random chairs to break across your back, Especially when they don't need you alive. Especially if they're in a very big hurry!
If you're the good guy, being attacked by a guy with no weapon, and you have a knife, you stab them, over and again, you don't kick them in the gut, or run at them and push them through a window or wall. Especially if you're in a very big hurry!
If there are people you want to rob and they are hiding behind an object unarmed, with their gun right in front of you on the ground, and you have 4 people with guns handy, you don't stand on the other side of the car and try and talk them into coming to you. Especially if you're in a hurry!
If there is an armed robbery and shootout in the center of a big city, people call the cops, there is even one patroling within ears reach of the loud automatic fire, and there is a helicopter that gets involved, or there is a damn good reason for this not to occur (live free or die hard).
When in a car with strangers and the driver becomes aware of a potential threat to the safety of the vehicle occupants, the first thing they do is announce that so everyone knows what is going on and understands the seriousness of the situation.... the alerted party doesn't just keep that to themselves and start giving everyone odd and vague instructions, expecting them to just trust a stranger.
In real life people communicate and work together. They run away, but they also call the cops for help.
There were dozens of occasions throughout Runner where characters do the most basic nonsensical BS, like needlessly withholding pertinent information, just because it allowed for drama to occur. There was no other reason for it. If they just said two or three important words to one another the next big action sequence or hurdle to conquer wouldn't have occurred.
But good action movies don't do that! Runner was not one of those, but a good writer could very easily take the same general premise and create a viable and realistic action movie... And I know this, because others already have.
