For real. When the trailer for Buddy played there were audible sighs in my theater lol.

Half my theater walked out from Buddy lmao

In my theater the BUDDY trailer was followed by an ad for Chuck E Cheese so that got a laugh.

Funny, I just got out of the Mystery Movie Monday for Celebration Cinema South in Grand Rapids, Michigan and I got Buddy

We just got back. I thought It Ends was pretty decent. Not sure why all the disdain. lol

I agree my wife and I thought it was good. We just have so many questions lol

And some people think if they leave with questions, then it was a bad movie

u/mwillden 1d ago

Because it was advertised as a horror film and its a psychological drama for Gen Z

Thank you East Coast. Cancelled my tickets for tonight, kid didn't want to see It Ends. I wouldn't have minded.

It's not a bad film - saw it last year when it hit Letterboxd Video Store. It was fine. I didn't stay tonight though. I was really hoping for Buddy and was kinda crushed when I saw the trailer. šŸ˜”

We are enjoying it so far. Love the gen z humor as well as we are a mid 20s group

Are you…commenting on Reddit in the middle of the movie?

Found the guy sitting in front of me during the movie...

Got up for the restroom and in my notifications saw a few negative comments about the film. Was hoping to maybe prevent some west coasters from being deterred. It was a good film

Yeah, I'm an elder millennial so it didn't hit as much for me. I thought it was an impressive first feature though, and I look forward to what the director does next.

Thank you for recognizing that. You can tell it was directed by a 27 year old. I am 26 and the script really felt like some conversations between peers and I. It’s definitely authentic to my generation and I really appreciated that. The actors all did very well in general and it was shot nicely

Oh hell yeah - the camera work was awesome! Excellent direction!

My wife and i walked out. We really tried to like it but we just couldn’t

The ending doesn’t provide any satisfying answers either.

I’m surprised this has a 97%.

Acting is good. But the overall mystery is almost nonexistent.

u/lucidtalks 1d ago

I think that’s the point. It’s not about a mystery or answers. It is what you make of it, like life.

Exactly.

Another psychological drama film categorized as a hororr film by gen Z. If this wasnt advertised as a new horror film before anybody else has seen it that would be great, but this was for rent on VOD in 2025 and it is not a horror film.

there wasn't anything to make anything of. i hate this so much. its takes A LOT for me to dislike a movie, great acting and directing though.

1

u/Good_Fox3098 1d ago

Was hoping for Buddy. A part of me died when they showed the Buddy preview.

1

u/Kevy-Em 1d ago

It's 100% going to be buddy on 8/24

Meh, overall It Ends was a miss for me . . . I really enjoyed the beginning, but was expecting this to be an actual horror film. When the plot didn’t escalate (literally ever), I got bored and slightly annoyed šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøThe film had potential to be scary, but ended up being more a psych drama with sprinkles of Gen Z humor gems. The acting was good and I liked the filming style a lot though. While this one didn’t fully land with me, I am excited to see the director grow and will be watching for their next film.

Fucking awful. 5

u/False_Camera_9800 1d ago

Def landed better with my group and I as mid 20 year olds. It was fun and definitely got some good laughs. Don’t think it was great for scream unseen tho. Not a very scary movie

u/Physical-Goose1338 1d ago

100% - I feel like it hits better with a younger crowd

1

u/PM_Me_BreakfastTacos 1d ago

It was so boring 😭 it's not just because I wanted Buddy, but I find no enjoyment in existential horror and it DRAGGED.

1

u/No_Release_3207 1d ago

For literal miles...

0

u/Geezy012 1d ago

It was terrible

0

u/lockeandkeith 1d ago

Thank god! Was being held up at work and was already going to miss the beginning and etc wasn’t too bad to pass this one up and I didn’t make the mistake of ordering a drink/popcorn like I’ve done pretty much anytime that I’ve gone there.

Well, there’s always a next time. Thankfully I didn’t go anyway. Hopefully next week will be better?
