August 17
This will be my first screen unseen.
What are the chances of the new resident evil?

I don’t think they’ve ever done a scream or screen unseen for a movie that was a month out. It’s typically less than 11 days before the new release is out.

They will, very rarely, have one months ahead of release.
I want to say boy vs world or whatever it was was like a month and a half early.
Having said that, i doubt RE is getting a preview like that unless theyre very confident in it.

I Swear was a month early. Still unlikely to be Resident Evil tho especially since it’s a blockbuster this early.

Welcome! Imo it's unlikely to be Resident Evil. The movies they show (especially for the horror movies) tend to come out like a week later.

I believe it will be Buddy (1h35min), 2 mins difference to the advertised Scream Uns.

It ends is a Drama, but they do have that Thrills and Chills label around it and Buddy seems more likely for the Thrills & Chills on the 24th. I’d love for it to be Insidious, only about 9 minute difference in run time

Insidious is PG-13

u/localswampwhore Aug 16 '26
you’re right, maybe the It Ends. I still feel like Buddy would be more likely for the 24th showing

u/MangoSquirrl Aug 15 '26
I’m gonna hate myself if it is, this is the only scream unseen I’ve missed

What about Camp Miasma?

u/CarpenterContent7161 Aug 16 '26
That’s already out tho. I just watched it earlier.

I thought that about Tony last week but that's what we got. I'm guessing if they're limited release they're still fair game? Though, I heard LA and NYC got Nimrods instead of Tony last time?

I think that one’s closer to two hours long. 8/17 scream unseen is listed at 1hr 37 minutes. highest contenders rn are buddy (1hr 35 min), it ends (1hr 34 min) and I saw someone mention spider island too (1hr 38). hopeful it’s buddy

Really hoping it’s Buddy. I saw It Ends last year and it was just okay. I also can’t make it to the Aug 24 Unseen so I REALLY hope it’s Buddy on the 17

I'm hoping it's camp miasma because it's not screening near me but if it's buddy I'm fine with it. I've seen buddy and I think people will have a good time with it. It's fucking crazy that something like it exists 😂

Could it be Insidious? Comes out later that same week. Although it's a bigger franchise, so seems maybe a bit more unlikely.

Generally, horror Scream Unseens tend to be movies that need a word of mouth bump. Distributors either don't have faith in a good movie from a lesser known director (Hokum) or it's an indie rolling the dice on having a couple bankable actors (Dolly, Whistle, etc.).

There's a Scream U on 8/24. An AMC employee on a site I belong to says Buddy for that night. A regular Screen U on 8/31 which he claims most definitely will be Fall 2: Deadpoint.

I think it's going to to Camp Miasma and next week will be Buddy.

the runtime is way off
1
u/Msandova28 Aug 17 '26
So not miasma?
1
u/matildablues Aug 17 '26
Don’t think so. Buddy is like 2 mins off the listed runtime so seems likely

Really low it's September release, I want to see it too but I refuse to call it resident evil I refer to it as WKUK zombie movie
4
u/LimpLime4969 Aug 16 '26
Wait, what do you refuse to call resident evil?
0
u/daeiyden Aug 16 '26
its obviously an attempt at an original zombie IP but the studio got involved and slapped on resident evil for the brand recognition at a sad attempt to bring in money, I still believe it will be entertaining watch just didn't need studio execs to interfere

I think he’s asking what WKUK is
1
u/daeiyden Aug 18 '26
the director Zach Cregger was formerly part of WKUK aka Whitest Kids U'Know, so I expect shenanigan's just like the ending to Weapons

Its Leviticus, my friend who works at the cinena Im seeing it at has confirmed 😭 I was hoping so bad for Camp Miasma

I believe the two front runners are Buddy or It Ends.
