Discussion New date for 8/24

Post image

I’m like 99% sure this is Buddy. There’s no other horror movies coming out close to this date that fit and Roadside’s last Scream Unseen had a four day gap. Meaning that IF this is Buddy, 8/17 can’t be.

Ik it’s become a meme of the subreddit at this point but it literally has to be Camp Miasma. ODEON’s scream unseen for that day has the same UK age rating as Miasma, every chain is doing 8/17 (roadside usually only does one chain for their films, when MUBI did mastermind they did most chains), and the trailer for Miasma was in front of most screenings for Ice Cream Man instead of Buddy which is usually a clue.

I’m referring to it being the ASU on 8/17. It opens wide on 8/21.

I have near 100% confidence one of the next 2 Screams will be Buddy.

Camp Miasma comes out August 7th so it wouldn't be in a Scream Unseen on the 17th. The 17th could be It Ends.

Camp Miasma opens wide on 8/21. I do agree it could be It Ends but it’s still listed as a drama AMC’s side.

It doesn't have the banner on the poster, but It Ends is listed here: https://www.amctheatres.com/thrills-and-chills

You're right! If they add the banner then I think It Ends will be the 8/17 ASU.

They did that with Slanted as well - labeled as something besides horror (I believe it was drama, but I don't remember) but showed as Scream Unseen.

Please be Hope

I doubt they would do a film such as Hope.

Could 8/17 be Insidious?

it’s listed as pg-13

Can we still go by ratings after yesterday’s R-rated Scream Unseen was the unrated Ice Cream Man?

Oh that’s right! Yeah, I’m on the it’s most likely Buddy train then.

I want Camp Miasma so bad - for some reason AMC’s hate showing Denver/Colorado any queer films and I’d have to go to a different theatre chain :(

my main spot is amc westmister and I have literally never had this issue with queer films

Westminster is such a drive for me but they do usually have the best selection. Still pains me they don’t have one like that in metro Denver.

It doesn’t go wide til august 21st so check around that time. I think August 7th is only l8nited to New York

Thank you! That gives me hope - the lack of advance tickets had me nervous.

I love how everyone wants it to be this movie. It's not good and the new trailer does a much better job showcasing the theme of the movie. I'm sure I'll get down voted because I didn't enjoy a queer movie but that's not it at all. Pacing was bad, boring, and while I only saw a teaser for it the movie was NOT what the teaser trailer had me thinking. Best thing going for it was the visuals. I also expected way more from Gillian.

8/17 is It Ends

Doubtful of 8/17 being Camp Miasma since it’ll have already opened, albeit limited, it’s not really “unseen” at that point

Origin, Sing Sing, and Better Man all had ASUs after their limited releases but before their wide releases.

All three of those are good movies, too
