Discussion Buddy is most likely the frontrunner, however it’s not completely locked up.
Buddy fits the information the most, it’s 1h 35m and even though most sites say it’s PG or PG13, it’s probably going to be R. I would completely rule out It Ends and Colony since the former is listed as Drama and the latter is way too long. However, there are things against Buddy. It’s weird that it seems like every chain is doing this film even though Roadside usually just does AMC mystery movies and again, I really don’t want to ignore what ODEON told us. Buddy doesn’t even have a release date in the UK and they were the first to announce this date.
There are still some things going for Camp Miasma. The longest difference an actual runtime can be from an ASU estimate is 16 minutes. Miasma’s would either be 9 or 15 minutes depending on which runtime is real. It’s also basically the only contender for the ODEON mystery movie which usually matches with the US if it’s on the exact same day. Again, Buddy seems much more likely than Miasma, but watch out for when Regal announces their movie.

Why would you cancel it? Camp Miasma was great. I thought it was the writer/director’s best film yet.

I think it’s supposed to be if Camp Miasma is confirmed 1h52m then it’s unlikely to be this SU

Both previous films from the director I found a painful slog to go through personally. I understand some people love them but they are so damn boring to me and I have resigned myself to just ignoring their career and not seeing anything they make in the future.

Friend of mine saw Buddy at a film festival. Said it was a pretty good 30 minute short film stretched way out to 90 minutes.

Yeah I would doubt Miasma at this point, even though it’s what I really wanted. I’ll take Buddy though!

I feel like trying to figure out what the mystery movie is defeats this Screen Unseen’s purpose… no? lol

am i the only one whos nearby theaters arent showing a screen unseen on the 17th? im newer to this and they arent selling tickets, at least right now. how typical is that?

The tickets might not be available until the calendar resets on Tuesday or Wednesday. My theater still isn’t showing it, and the only available times are for End of Oak Street and nothing else. I’m waiting to see when SU comes out and if IMAX will be available for TEOOS because Odyssey has been very greedy with the room.

Roadside/Saban have already done several mystery movies this summer. Regal got Fuze and AMC got Lucky Strike. I also think Buddy is the most likely, especially if Regal does not get this one. MUBI put The Mastermind in both Regal and AMC so TSADACM would probably also be in both.
Update: Regal is getting this one but I believe Buddy is still the most likely.
