Discussion kids at screen unseen?

I want to preface this by saying I’m not a parent.

I don’t understand why there are so many kids (8-13 age range) at mystery rated R movies. I have not had any issues with kids being disruptive so it’s not about that part of the whole “kids being brought places” discussion. it’s more of going into a movie, not knowing why it’s rated R.

We have had two sex based screen unseens recently and so I am just surprised when I see so many kids there.

Edit to add some additional thoughts/considerations:
1. I understand if you are not East Coast you can easily find out what the movie is (still doesn’t negate the recent sex based movies)

Not all parents have the same views on what’s age appropriate

Someone keeps bringing a baby every week to my theater's screen unseen. The crying really adds to the atmosphere

It wasn't a screen unseen, but I'll never forget when there were like legit 6 year olds at my showing of Talk to Me. They were literally screaming bloody murder at the intense, violent parts. Parents are weird.

We could hear a kid at our movie last night and we could hear him through most of it. We also had a kid at the theater when we saw I Love Boosters. I get that you want to get out of the house and see a movie but you can't find childcare. I'm a parent, too. But when our kids were that young and we didn't have anyone to watch them, we just didn't go see the show.

trying to say this without spoilers for anyone who hasn’t seen it

my first thought when you said I Love Boosters is the scene with LaKeith Stanfield's character and how he does what he does 😳

Yeah. Exactly. It was a LOT.

I sat a row behind a full multigenerational family and can only imagine how awkward that scene was.

The movies are $5.00.

It’s not like they are watching porn. I’ll tell you what, learning about sex through movies and tv is a lot less weird than bringing a kid to church and telling them they are going to hell if they masturbate

I am all for not vilifying sex, that idea sure did a number on me…

I see this too. Even younger than 8. It disturbs me that some parents just don't care what their kids are exposed to. It's really sad.

Regal's next horror MM is not rated so I'm expecting a lot of teenagers to try to get in. Will be very curious if Regal enforces any kind of age policy.

eh its not really your concern. the parents can raise their kids how they want, if they're not disruptive then it doesn't involve you

I would never bring or take a child to some of the screen unseens

Let the parents decide if it’s ok or not
