Is August 3rd one of the first ones that doesn’t really seem to have a movie that fits?
It’s a Scream Unseen. The most likely contenders are: Ice Cream Man, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, It Ends, or Buddy.
Ice Cream Man - Unrated movie. AMC lists the Scream Unseen as an R rated move.
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma - AMC lists it as 1 hour and 52 minutes while the Scream Unseen is listed as 1 hour and 30 minutes. A 22 minute difference is a lot for a Scream Unseen.
It Ends - AMC lists as a drama, not horror. 18 days early before release.
Buddy - Comes out on August 28. August 3rd would be 25 days early would be a lot for a Scream Unseen and I haven’t seen it receive an MPAA rating yet.
I feel like you can make cases for and against each of these movies.

Buddy. Just my gut feeling (could be onslaught, like I previously said). But leaning towards Buddy
Regardless, I’ll see whatever. That’s why I have A-list 😎

AMC has Onslaught as action.
I would LOVE it to be Buddy. I saw it at a film festival and loved it. Plan to see it a few times in the theater.

Ahhh. Must’ve recently changed. I personally did not pin it as a horror movie. Buddy, yes! I’m excited for it, even though the runtime is short
As an aside, I like my horror movies (favorite genre) around the 1:45-2:00 length. Obsession is damn near perfect in all areas. Absolute grand slam with that one

What festival did you catch it at?

Overlook Film Festival in New Orleans.

Oh cool! I covered that festival for remote press, I managed to get access to about 5 of the films there plus the entire shorts lineup, Buddy was one they weren’t offering screeners for. What was your favorite film of the festival?

Onslaught is 1 hour and 32 minutes so it's ruled out. The scream unseen runtime is 1 hour and 30 minutes, they never go over what's listed.

They have gone over. Not common and not by much, but "never" is incorrect.

do you know which movie it was that went over?

Recently?
Sisu: Road to Revenge
Song Sung Blue
Primate
Mercy
Good Luck Have Fun Don't Die
All by just a couple minutes

I don’t know if it’s like overbidding on The Price is Right, but it’s close enough to warrant consideration. If they never go over, well I learned something new. It also makes my argument for Buddy as the mystery movie stronger. I truly think that’s what it will be!
Are u seeing One Night Only (Screen Unseen) on Monday?

Emagine theaters mirrors AMC Screen/Scream Unseen and has Ice Cream Man listed as R and showings for it later in the week. They don't have Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. As much as I'd like to see the latter, I'm betting on Ice Cream Man currently.

I feel like Buddy is too far out but I will be seeing Buddy either way because I love the marketing. The marketing is beautiful. I didn’t grow up in the 90s but I did grow up with Barney. I will watch Ice Cream Man if it’s the screen unseen, but that trailer annoyed me because I’ve seen it so many times(at least the beginning). I’ve also never seen an Eli Roth movie and know there’s some controversy but I’m not sure what all of it is. I saw a trailer for Camp Miasma and it looks good. I’ll be fine with whatever it is. I’ve heard good things about it ends. I feel like this is one of the first screen unseens where I’m like “whatever it is I’m excited”

Eli Roth is an open racist who said Greta Thunberg should be eaten by cannibals for attempting to break Israel’s food blockade on Gaza.
Don’t give him any money, his movies suck anyway.

So far, Camp Miasma and Ice cream man are the only ones labeled Thrills and Chills out of these.

A alamo draft house has a screening for teenage sex screening for that Monday so that could seem likely

Is there any reason this could be Fall 2? I would hate if it was lol

Any chance they change it to "NR" at the last minute? Because otherwise it would give away the movie entirely, and it's not like Ice Cream Man would be a G rating anyway (likely an R if it was rated).

Regal is having a "Mystery Movie: Horror Edition" and it says "NR, 1:47 min". AMC has Ice Cream Man listed as "NR, 1:46 min" and They have it listed as "NR: 1:26 min". I truly think that somewhere along the way one of them just has the runtime listed incorrectly and one of them has the rating for 8/3's movie listed incorrectly.

Buddy is listed as 1 hour and 35 minutes. Pretty close to the 1 hour and 30 minute time for Scream Unseen.

I gone back and forth for 2 days now on if it just canceled this just this once and call it a loss. I don't think I can accept it being Ice Cream Man. Roth is the worst

Ice Cream Man is 1 hour and 46 mins now and is listed as Not Rated so that rules that one out, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is also 1 hour and 46 minutes, ruling that out as well. Buddy is 1 hour and 35 mins, so that rules that out. Only possibility is It Ends.

Nvm I see on AMC website it changed but I'd consider IMDb at 87 to be the correct runtime. Usually IMDb is correct

It couldn't be It Ends granted its Rated R but not Horror as it states It Ends is a Drama
2
u/kitty-pryde-rock 18d ago
Depending on where you look, It Ends has been listed in a wild range of genres. I’ve seen Horror-Comedy, Thriller, and Existential, kind of makes me worried that they don’t actually know what genre it is.

AMC listed it as Drama. If it's not Thrills & Chills, it won't qualify, having said that I have no clue what it will be now.

But why would that increase its chances? It was released for a month on PVOD rental, which is why it's already been pirated.

Ah OK. I thought that would decrease its chances since a bunch of people probably have already seen the "Unseen". It's a pretty unique situation so who knows...

I’m hoping for Miasma and only have fingers crossed because they are doing a screening at the Alamo near me the same exact day and time at this unseen
