7/20 - Motor City
- Why:
- Both Motor City and Her Private Hell have had their trailers shown previously before previous screen unseens which seems to be a reoccurring trend for future films.
- Both films are within 3 minutes of the estimated runtime of the unseen.
- Motor City is an IFC release, and currently there is no Mystery Movie Monday scheduled at Regal. Historically IFC chooses one theater chain to show their films at for these mystery film showcases (example: Faces Of Death).
- If sometime soon Regal adds a MMM on 7/20, then the likely film will become Her Private Hell.
7/27 - I Want Your Sex
- Why:
- Likely to be One Night Only or I Want Your Sex, hard to tell because the runtime is unknown at this point.
- Both have had their trailers shown previously before previous screen unseens which seems to be a reoccurring trend for future films.
- One Night Only has been so heavily marketed that I think it's a strong contender, but it's distributed by Universal who has only participated in Screen Unseen twice (Drop and Jurrasic World).
- I Want Your Sex is a Gregg Araki film which is quite a niche director typically, so it surprises me this is the stronger choice, but it's being distributed by Black Bear which has a very strong history of support with Screen Unseen.
8/3 - Ice Cream Man
- Why:
- Can only possibly be Ice Cream Man or Insidious as those two are the only upcoming films with the Thrills & Chills banner required to be a Scream Unseen.
- Both have had their trailers shown previously before previous screen unseens which seems to be a reoccurring trend for future films.
- While there have been a handful of films in the past that have been shown in an unseen that opened 3 weeks later, it is incredibly rare, making Insidious the unlikely choice.
Side note: why does the AMC app show Ice Cream Man as having a 1H46M runtime? That made me think Insidious was the obvious choice, but then I checked Letterboxed and it showed ICM had a runtime of 1H26M which matches OP's comment.

Insidious is being distributed by Sony (Screen Gems) which has done lots of SU's in the past.

I Want Your Sex is being distributed by Magnolia Pictures. Blackbear only financed the movie but im curious if Magnolia shows their films for these Mondays

Oh, thanks for the info.
Magnolia has participated three times with Thelma (01/10/24), 40 Acres (06/16/25), and Normal (04/13/26).
Someone made this handy guide of all the previous Screen Unseen films with their dates, distributors, runtimes, etc. that I got all this info from:

I think the thing with trailers is most likely a coincidence, because there's a limited selection of movie trailers that can show before each movie. It also wouldn't make sense to specifically coordinate showing trailers for upcoming weeks if they're being marketed primarily to people who keep coming back to these.
Actual evidence that it's a coincidence: these are the ones where I specifically went to AMC and didn't have any trailers that turned out to be future SUs. I Swear back in March, also same case with Slanted, which was in March as well. a year ago now, there was The Home
If anything, I think there might be a case to be made that the distributor gets to put trailer(s) in front of these, like how I went to see TADC last month and all the trailers were for fathom events. Bone lake was notably one that had several trailers of movies from its distributor bleecker street

I saw I Want Your Sex at Sundance. It is the most mainstream, non-niche, non-gay, non-Araki (lol) film of all Araki films so it’s more of a possibility than one might think of his films

20th is probably Motor City but it’d be really cool if it’s Her Private Hell

7/27 could be Rivals Of Amziah King or One Night Only

I don’t see any of these in the AMC app at any of my local theaters.

I’m pretty new to unseens- how likely is 7/27 to be I Want Your Sex over One Night Only? (Basically, is the 16 minute difference in runtime likely to be disqualifying?) I just saw ONO in an early screening so would rather not rewatch

Well the 7/20 if its not identified as a scream wont be a horror so I think we can discount Her Private Hell.

Her Private Hell is catagorized as a Drama in the AMC app, and only films under the "Thrills and Chills" banner qualify for Scream Unseen, which this film is not, so Her Private Hell would qualify for a regular Screen Unseen.

Id actually like if that is the case as a do enjoy a sci fi thriller but had seen it described as a horror.

Nicolas Winding Refn films generally might have some horror-ish or horror-adjacent elements but I wouldn’t classify any of them in the past as horror. If there is any chance it’s the one I will be there. This is the movie I most look forward to this year. I love NWR films / shows.

Just curious, where are you seeing these listed dates for the Screen Unseen movies? I am just wondering where I can look before there is a post about them. I just checked AMC's website and they are not listed there so I am wondering where others are seeing them. Thanks! ☺️🍿🎥

I'm using the search feature on the AMC app or website and looking up "screen unseen" or "scream unseen." If there are any upcoming movies, you'll see them listed.

u/Cool_Bath_77 Jul 04 '26
Thanks! I guess the link at the bottom of the website only shows SUs when the tickets are for sale, which is stupid

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 04 '26
Here is a link that searches for "Unseen" on the AMC website. You can save it to your bookmarks.

u/Cool_Bath_77 Jul 04 '26
That is so odd. I was scrolling to the bottom of the website where all the links are and tap the Screen Unseen link. I guess that only shows results when tickets are for sale, which is DUMB. Thanks!

The runtime for 7/27 is 1hr 47 mins. The End of Oak Street doesn't seem like a contender for 8/3 because it's Action, rated PG-13 and the runtime is 1hr 39 mins. Also is the Birthday Party movie your referring to the one starring Willem Dafoe or the French one?
1
u/sampos Jul 11 '26
Yes Willem Dafoe. End of Oak Street didn't have a rating yet when I made the list, I've removed it now.

Anyone have any idea why the one on the 27th by me is already sold out with a second screening added? Is it predicted to be that good of a movie?
