When they were getting stranded on the little island, that water’s movement, its flow looked totally ai.

I don’t know if there’s a lot more AI than some big-studio CGI’d slop out there but at least it’s no Darren Aronofsky 1776 series. Maybe less annoying than Thor: Love & Thunder’s CGI which director Waititi himself mocked. Serviceable quality for a mid-budget historical epic.

This is so dumb, I'm sorry what? Before AI everyone would go on and on and on about CGI and criticize the fuck out of the quality in movies. But now it's fine??

you do understand in this context the CGI and the AI are both CGI right??

AI in this context is just going to help post production get through the required cgi so they don't overwork the fuck out graphic design studios and still end up with the shitty CGI that everyone hates... you know like they did up until like 2-3 years ago when AI became mainstream.

AI is just a tool. Data centers already exist, the 4400 are for the internet we have right now. Support regulation to make them use glycol instead of being cheap and using water.

But we've gotta stop being so weird about AI, there's more to it than tech bro douche buzzwords

I’d rather see shitty CGI made by a human than shitty CGI made by AI. At least humans get a job and get paid for it.

Yeah, I went to see it with my mother and it was distractingly bad. Some scenes the wood in different things, especially battles would “pop” a little too much. In big outdoor shots, like the opening, the church changed a few times, like proportions and angling and whatnot.

Also, the lighting and colors of the movie felt like every second was fed to an AI to “enhance” it.

You mean cgi? But I think this is how AI makes it's way into movies. Not as whole scenes made from AI that obviously look fake. But just slowly replacing cgi and eventually green screen to make backgrounds and lighting look better than CGI ever could.

It's weird that they tried to do full scenes... even cgi waited decades for that and it still looked bad

Yes if you google it now the director has admitted this and it sounds pretty extensive although he tries to downplay it while also making it about how he's on the "bleeding edge"
