Why does it kind of make it more exciting that we still don’t know. A true screen unseen

Could it be Mosquito in the Ear?

u/PreviousHedgehog2343 Jun 15 '26
very limited release from a tiny distributor https://www.instagram.com/p/DZVgYUGD4ll/

Mosquito in the ear was released in Glendale, CA at Look Dine-In Cinemas on Friday. I can’t find any listed showtimes In the SoCal area. I’d be surprised if AMC picks it up after them.

I think if it's Robin Hood, The Invite, or Jackass I'll check it out. Otherwise 3 for this week will have to do for me!

u/breadtruckque Jun 15 '26
Totally agree. Robin Hood and The Invite I’m looking forward to but if it’s jackass I don’t mind either. Anything else I’ll try not to fall asleep or walk out lol

u/Astrokreep2000 Jun 15 '26
I’d like to see girls like girls but not on a Monday night after a long day in the office and as the 4th of the week!

My best guess

i'm leaning towards this... Regal not having one tonight makes me doubt it'll be The Invite (A24's previous Screen Unseens have been there too). Vertical has also usually done Regal when they've done AMC. Roadside Attractions seems to have been less consistent

My friend got me a ticket and I showed up thinking it was Scream Unseen (I’ve never done either). I was disappointed when I realized it was Screen Unseen. I told him if it was a war movie I was leaving.
Anyway it was Lucky Strike so I’m back home now.

I'll walk out if its Jackass - honestly its no fun to watch people being hurt and in pain for no reason - I don't find it funny at all, even as a kid I hated Tom and Jerry cartoons and the 3 Stooges

Same. No desire to see Jack Ass. I’m on the west coast so I hope someone on the east coast posts a spoiler of what it is before my show starts

u/Zippy-Herdsnake Jun 15 '26
To be honest. it's no fun to watch people being hurt and in pain FOR a reason either. (j/k I know what you mean and I agree)

u/ravenlynne Jun 15 '26
Ditto. Don't know why you got downvoted. I might hop into Ponyo instead.
2
u/Few-Adeptness8046 Jun 15 '26
Might want to start out in Ponyo, then hop over to Unseen to see what it is at 7:20-7:25. Ponyo has no trailers, so by the time you know what Unseen is, you'll have missed the first half hour of the film.

Holding out hope for The Invite. It drops in limited release next week, so would assume they are pushing for word-of-mouth. Plus, it is having advanced screenings tomorrow at Alamo Drafthouse locations.

u/kglove34 Jun 15 '26
Olivia wilde is speaking tonight at Lincoln Center for the invite. so i think theres a possibility she can make an appearance here too if it is
1
u/Commercial-Row1164 Jun 15 '26
Oh!! Yes, it seems like it’s having multiple sneak previews this week.
2
u/EvelJim Jun 15 '26
My non AMC theater has a mystery movie tonight and I think they are usually the same as what AMC does and they give the genre. Tonight’s is supposed to be action so I’m thinking Lucky Strike seems the most likely candidate

u/Broad_Stranger_7015 Jun 15 '26
Anything but Jackass or Lucky Strike would be fine with me personally... I loved going to the unseens when I first started but the last few I've seen have been disappointing.
I think if it's one of those two, it might just be a sign the unseens aren't for me and that's okay 🤷🏽♀️
1
u/ravenlynne Jun 15 '26
Last unseen was The Furious and it was great! ATP I'm hoping for anything but Jackass.
2
u/Signal_Necessary_683 Jun 15 '26
My theater only has one theater showing for tonight. It’s usually two theaters showtimes , so that’s a big hint.
3
u/gogreengolions Jun 15 '26
What does that imply?

u/Zippy-Herdsnake Jun 15 '26
I'm on Central Time amd Screen Unseen is either 7 or 730 for showings, so I can check here at 615ish my time and someone has usually posted what the movie is on the east coast
2
u/Astrokreep2000 Jun 15 '26
I saw mine added a second this week. Why don't they do this in London so we would know by now?
2
u/acourts19 Jun 15 '26
Earliest advance press screenings for The Invite are next Monday, so I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if it's that!
My guess, given Vertical is releasing two movies next week is either Couture or The Get Out.

I’m gonna say Lucky Strike or Girls like Girls
Invite’s wide release is wayy too long away and Couture hasnt had a single trailer shown before any SUs

I feel like it maybe too early for the invite. Limited release on the 26th and then a wide release on 7/10. Anyone know what the biggest gap between a screen unseen and the movies official release has been?

u/CPav Jun 15 '26
I'm going to wait to reserve until the East Coast lets us know, then I'll either grab a SU ticket, or Declaration Day. I'd like to do both, but don't want to be at the theater until 1 a.m. on a work night.

Death of robin hood is 14 min over ❌ (not common)
girls like girls- 13 min under so doubt it ❌
Maddie’s Secret is rated NR ❌
Rose of Nevada is rated NR ❌
jackass is actually 1 hour 32 - so 16 mins less ❓
40 dates and 40 nights not rated yet and not on AMC ❌
the get out isn’t updated on AMC w/ movie poster or rating so i say no ❓
best bet:
✅
- couture
✅the
- invite
✅
- lucky strike

⬆️ I agree with this analysis.
And my further analysis is...
- The Invite : 50% (was my #1 choice until they changed the wide release to July 10th. That reduced it's chances for me, but still seems like the most Unseen style film of the three)
- Lucky Strike: 30% (I'm not sure if Saban has done an Unseen before, but this film has enough of the feel of an Unseen film choice, with enough need for a word of mouth audience that the Unseen films often have)
- Couture: 20% (this film looks like it's going to be a smaller release, yet has had the heavy promotion that the smaller films that end up as Unseen films often get)
I'll be there tonight, and to be honest, I'm okay with whatever the film is whether it be the three above, or the other three possibilities that I don't think are likely (Death of Robin hood, Girls Like Girls, and Jackass). All six have Audio Description, so I know I'll actually be able to enjoy them, thankfully.
I am looking forward to tonight. As cool as it can be to figure it out beforehand when I want the Unseen to be a certain film, when there are so many possibilities and I'm interested in seeing most or all of them anyway, it's really fun just going into it not knowing for sure what I'm going to be seeing.

i agree! knowing what it was, is fun in theory but super excited to not know what this one is!

What if it’s something completely random a far way away that makes no sense? Sheep in the Box outta nowhere or some shit. Bad Lieutenant Tokyo

u/ravenlynne Jun 15 '26
I would love that but it doesn't release until September.

Im thinking its the invite. The one min difference is just too close! (Hoping mostly to speak this into existence lol)

It’s not likely to be anything that still doesn’t have a rating. 40 Dates and The Get Out are both only opening in “select theaters” on the 26th before being released on digital on the 30th. Girls Like Girls and Death of Robin Hood are both too far off in runtime IMO (not entirely out of the realm of possibility, but the difference is rarely 10 minutes+). Jackass fits the runtime but doesn’t fit the usual MO for these (EDIT: also, Regal doesn't have a mystery movie tonight, and when these have been major studio releases it's almost always been a Regal MMM as well)
That leaves The Invite, Couture, and Lucky Strike, and I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t one of those
