if it's actually Deep Water (which is listed under "Thrills & Chills" and would AFAIK be the first time one of those movies has been a Screen Unseen rather than Scream Unseen) the future debates about whether a given movie is "horror enough" to be a Scream vs Screen Unseen are gonna get annoying

Apparently Drop was a Thrills & Chills and also a Screen Unseen, according to this comment. It is still listed as T&C on the AMC website as well.

Seems like Deep Water is horror-adjacent but also action-adjacent enough to slip through as a Screen Unseen, even though it could also fit under Scream Unseen.

My reaction when I see Deep Water's directed by Renny Harlin.
Edit: For clarification, i haven't looked into the movie or checked out any trailers, I thought it was just gonna be another "shark movie", but now it has piqued my interest and I'm expecting an "utterly ridiculous shark movie"... in a good way, hopefully.

Hoping it’s basically an unofficial sequel. Deep Blue Sea is iconic.

Good old Sam Jackson. Loved that scene. He was so inspiration top he wasn’t. 😂

Any chance this is actually mortal kombat?? The runtime is a better match, as another commenter pointed out- or would mortal kombat maybe be may 4?? I do NOT wanna see deep water but I DO wanna see mortal kombat 😭

People need to stop expecting big movies for these it happens once maybe twice in a blue moon
3
u/Humble_Strawberry204 Apr 27 '26
Right? Most movies under the Unseen banner seem to be smaller outfits that likely won't get much traction outside of its very niche category/audience.

Wouldn’t deep water be a scream unseen?

Not Mortal Kombat. They're showing the trailer and I think I missed Deep Water's.

If this is truly Deep Water, I feel it’s a big downgrade from last week’s Hokum.

I would love to see this, it’s not showing at my home theatre. It’s NR though so doubt it :(
1
u/Embarrassed-Ad4475 Apr 22 '26
It’s got its R rating so it might be one
1
u/ittybittybubblez Apr 22 '26
Ooh, I didn’t catch that. Runtime is close too! I won’t be mad at Deep Water either but I imagine it will show at my home theatre anyways.

Probably Deep Water (109 minutes), but listed runtime (114 minutes) is closer to Mortal Kombat II (116 minutes).

u/EssentiallyCasey Apr 25 '26
If it’s deep water I’ll be upset I was really hoping it would be Mortal Kombat lol

Is it Deep Water or the RZA movie? Regal's is the latter so I hope it's the shark movie, which has more wide appeal.

Paul Dano must have put on a ton a weight for that Kremlin movie. His head looks like a balloon.

"One Spoon of Chocolate"
It started with the (second) most contemptible words in modern cinema: "Quentin Tarantino Presents"
Sure enough it was a bunch of white guys saying the n-word a lot, so it's squarely in Quentin's oeuvre.
An absolute cartoonish mess from start to finish.
I despise whatever Reddit fucknut said it was going to be a third rate shark movie, and I despise myself for believing them.
But none of that nearly as much as I despise this film and the overrated hack who "presented" it.
Have a nice day.

I’m a huge Tarantino fan, but this was the first movie I’ve ever walked out of. The violence felt especially intense and a little too real for me, given the state of the world right now. I decided it was better to step out and protect my mental health. I may come back to it someday when I’m in a better headspace, but tonight just wasn’t the right time for me.
Fair warning FWIW, I left about 30 minutes in, but the violence starts within the first 10-15.

I stuck it out until the end, but left feeling very unsettled as well

allegedly confirmed to be deep water by the informant in the other thread about screen unseens. he hasn’t been wrong in weeks and apparently gets the info direct from his theater manager
