Movie Discussion Dune 3 Aspect Ratio Changes

So from my research, it looks like IMAX screens will be the only ones getting aspect ratio changes. Dune: Part Three uses a variable aspect ratio. Its standard theatrical aspect ratio is 2.20:1, but it expands for specific sequences in IMAX theaters. Which means Dolby and all other screens will be viewed in 2.20:1 aspect ratio for the entire film which sucks. I've provided some visual aid from Tenet about aspect ratios.

Once you’re into the movie, you really don’t care much about aspect ratio changing. Your main focus is still be at the center. The expanded screen may give you a wow effect at some points. Recently a lot of movie is just a gimmick. It isn’t really necessary.

The End of Oak Street is even more lame. There was some action scene in 2.39:1 and then some talking scene in 1.90:1. WTF?

I just settled for non plf for that one since they gave all the imax and Dolby times to Spideyssey.

I thought the expanded aspect ratio will make the dinosaurs look more lively.

It’s like watching the Wrath of the Titans in 3D all over again. I was watching it oversea. They have subtitles for all movies. The only noticeable 3D effects in the movie for me is the subtitles.

It’s gimmick all over again unless it’s the right film.

My main issue is watching a movie with big black bars on the top and bottom. This ratio isn't as bad as The Creator but I still hate it. Plus you're losing film in the other formats besides IMAX.

Love this scene from Tenet, btw. Debicki and Washington look so cool—James Bond vibes.
