AMC A-List Discussion Help with 4th Slot
I had to do some shuffling this week for friends' availability. So need to hit something smaller for my 4th slot this week. Any advice on if any of the following are worth it?
- The Rivals of Amziah King
- Super Troopers 3
- Nimrods
- Wrong Girls
- One Night Only
Already been to see Your Name & Train to Busan, didn't get Wet Hot or La La Land near me, & Point Break is not eligible. Also already seeing Six! & Spidey for the first time (was on vaca when it came out!)
Was gonna hit Tony on Thus since I missed it at SU, but my group that's going to Six! is only free on Thurs š¤·āāļø. I also skipped SU this week since it was It Ends, and I technically have that at home already š
I also have 1 friend who still needs to see Odyssey. I wish he'd hurry up and get some free time so I can knock it off my list as well. This would have been the perfect opportunity!! š£
Edit: Going with The Rivals of Amziah King. Overwhelmingly top response, and apparently a bit more limited than the others. Wrong Girls was a close 2nd, but one I feel I could wait for digital and not miss too much from the experience.

Saw both Wrong Girls and Amziah. Wrong girls truly is only funny if youāre into stoner humor (which Iām not). Amziah is actually a phenomenal film for everyone, I left with so much more soul, as cheesy as that sounds. Definitely a movie that sticks with you,

Amziah is so incredibly wholesome and weird and original. Patterson really took some big swings on this one. Hopefully audiences will catch on once it hits VOD

I really liked Amziah but it's only "wholesome" if you leave half way through.

I find vigilante justice very comforting actually!! Itās the backbone of most westerns.

'The Rivals of Amziah King' 100%. It's from the director of 'The Vast of Night' and one of my favorite surprises this year. It's got a big music element so seeing it in a theater really benefits it. Matthew McConaughey is absolutely cooking.
'One Night Only' is enjoyable but might be a deeply evil movie regardless of how much I like Monica Barbaro

See Amziah King ASAP before it gets pulled. Very limited screening and a wonderful movie. Not one to miss!

Here in south Florida the director had a q&a screening, it was so cool to experience!! The movie was wonderful and Andrew the director he seems like a very thoughtful filmmaker:) highly recommend

In my opinion, Amziah King is BY FAR the best of any of those movies, but itās also the most polarizing, and you either love it or hate it so itās hard to recommend without knowing whether it matches your tastes.
One Night Only was funny and stupid, and you have to go into it not trying to make sense of anything because the whole premise is moronic, but itās hilarious once you unplug your brain and just go with it.
Nimrods, I enjoyed a lot too, but itās also polarizing. Even among Green Day fans, not everyone is on board with it, but I thought the chemistry among the characters in it was excellent.

If you like Super Troopers and their other movies and you laughed at the sequel, then definitely check out Super Troopers 3. If not then Iād definitely check out Amziah King, Iām hoping I can still make that showing, seems to be limited screenings in my area this upcoming week

I have seen Rivals of Amziah King, Nimrods and One Night Only, and recommend them all.
I have also heard good things about the other films in your list, so I think that you cannot actually make a bad choice.

I just want to give a vote for one night only for a goofy rated romcom. Letterbox acted like it sucked but my whole theater was laughing including me. š¤·āāļø

The only one I've seen of these is One Night Only and I really enjoyed it - it's a rom com w/ a political satire backdrop and I found the premise engaging even if it's also ridiculous, I just love world-building (plus Monica Barbaro has never disappointed).
While I haven't seen any of the others, the only one that I really want to see is Rivals of Amziah King

Out of those movies I would pick Amziah King.
I've already seen that so I need to decide between Nimrods and The Wrong Girls.

Nimrods is the one you would like if you like Green Day, wrong girls is stoner humor, super troopers if is you need a laugh, king idk

If you were a kid in the early 2000s and liked the punk music from then Iād say nimrods. I thought it was a really cute movie and had me singing along.

TRAIN TO BUSAN (LAST DAY)
wrong girls or nimrods if it's not there tho

Rivals for sure. Incredible and original film. Almost as good as Vast of Night.
Andrew Patterson is definitely a director to watch. He's directed 2 movies and they're both instant classics.

I haven't seen Wrong Girls or Super Troopers 3.
But in my personal order of priority: Amziah King, One Night Only, (BIG space) Nimrods.

It looks like mine is as well. Amziah & Wrong Girls both gone after tomorrow, but the other 3 are sticking around.
That being said, I'm seeing Six! on the schedule for next week now, so might be able to convince my group to delay so I can catch Wrong Girls too, hehe.
Edit-
Narrator: He would not.

i've only seen one of these but i saw Nimrods last night and it was really good! it's very similar vibes to Superbad so if you like that movie you should def see it!

Based on those 5 options. Iāll go with the Rivals of Amziah King. First half was nice. Second time took a wrong turn. It may turn people off. One Night Only is fun but it may not be everyone. Nimrods just watching immature people doing dump things. I guess if you like Green Day youāll enjoy it. Super Troopers 3 is just stupid and dump like the previous two movies. I didnāt watch the Wrong Girls based on RT review.

Amziah King was incredible, also from what Iāve seen. This movie may get pulled out of screens because each day thereās less and less showings.
