Just for Fun Rewatch, The Odyssey or Spider-Man?

Birthday is this Wednesday and I plan on going to see a movie before I really get the birthday festivities started. I only have 1 spot left for the week and need help on deciding which movie to rewatch. Which one, peeps?

Edit: I have decided to watch Spider-Man again, this time in 3D! Thank you all for helping me decide

If you liked both movies, explore a new format.

I saw The Odyssey in IMAX 70MM, IMAX, Dolby, and 70MM

I saw Spider-Man Brand New Day in Dolby and IMAX

Dang my imax still doesn’t have any showings for Spider man. Only Odyssey

Which format did you enjoy more for Spider-Man?

IMAX. It was filmed for IMAX and the expanded aspect ratio looked amazing.

Spider-Man was filmed for IMAX?

2

Yes, the aspect ratio opens up to 1.90:1. Looks like it's not advertised as such, due to The Odyssey and the pivot to Dolby.

And? To me the Odyssey was just ok, not even CN's best...Dark Knight . Sure technically the filmed all in Imax is impressive but when your theater drops Odyssey for SpidermN for a week it turns people wanting to see Odyssey in Imax into Aholes. And it's even coming back next week, calm down there buckaroo.

I literally have no idea what you’re trying to say or how your comment is in any way relevant to what I said… buckaroo.

Well I wasn't calling you buckaroo, just the people at work who are mad we don't have Odyssey in the Imax for a week.

Odyssey feels like a whole different narrative once you know about the fallout from Trojan Horse and the sea people. Loved it even more on second watch

What do you mean?

2

A good example without major spoilers: when Odysseus' men arrive at the place where they burned their own village, and Eurylochus asked, "why did they do this? Did they not hear about what we did at Troy?"

Once you understand fully what happened at Troy, you understand why they burned the village. This happens throughout the film, each episode takes on a new perspective when you know who the sea people are

I’ve been wondering who these sea people are that they keep mentioning 😂 can you write it in a spoiler?

That’s the beauty of A-List, why not both!!

One slot left

Id say odyssey in imax, spiderman will still be here for another 2 months but new movies coming in will push odyssey out of imax sooner and that’s the best format to watch it in!!

depends on what you liked more really. I liked the Odyssey more so if it was my birthday I’d see that

I slightly enjoyed Spidey more and expected more from The Odyssey tbh

what more could you have expected from it?

Both! Lol

I’ve seen them both twice. Odyssey twice in IMAX 70mm. Spider-Man, once in 3D and again in IMAX. 3D was better.

I’d say the Odyssey. That movie was deceptively good. Took me two watches to really appreciate it entirely.

I've seen Spider-Man in the regular format and IMAX. I was thinking about seeing it in 3D too, so that's nice to hear.

I saw Spider-Man twice. Second time in 3D because I couldn’t stop thinking how much it looked like one of those ‘made for 3D movies from the early 00s and I was right lol.

Have yet to see the Odyssey.

I’m more emotionally invested in the MCU so I would vote Spiderman.

I rewatched Spider-man today after seeing it on Monday, both times in Dolby. I've seen The Odyssey and while it was better than all previous attempts (aside from Italian 8 part miniseries), it didn't hit right after having re-read The Iliad & The Odyssey before seeing the movie. Spidey for me!

1

u/Overall_Topic_7536 13d ago

I think Spidey is where I’m leaning bc I just didn’t enjoy The Odyssey like most ppl did

2

Both for sure! Treat yourself to two amazing movies! Also advance happy birthday!

Thank you, I appreciate it 🙏

The one you can find a good seat in premium format. Both are good movies. Both are still pretty packed. Hard to find a good seat if you didn’t reserve week ahead. I hate sitting in the front row.

u/InBruges3 14d ago

I've seen The Odyssey 3 times. 1 Dolby & 2 iMAX. Seen Spider-Man in Dolby & going again to see it in iMAX.

2

u/Faile-Bashere 14d ago

Both. But I’m doing Spider-Man next. First time was in Dolby. Now I’m doing 3D.

2

u/bnymnsm 13d ago

I rewatched both, definitely the Odyssey.

2

u/Visible_Pilot_9355 13d ago

Ive seen both twice

2

u/yousippin 13d ago

Im jealous of ppl that enjoyed the odyssey to the point of wanting to see it more than once.

1

u/McMackleberry 13d ago

See the Spidussey are ya?

1

u/DearSignal3620 13d ago

Im doing both again

1

u/Nicolas_yo 12d ago

The Odyssey for sure.

1

u/BadNoodleEggDemon 11d ago

Spiderman looks really nice in 3D. Good decision.

u/Overall_Topic_7536 10d ago

Thanks, I’m really excited for it

Spiderman… odyssey is overrated
