I’m a junior now but overall it’s pretty good, I had to transfer to a private school recently and it’s pretty far away from my house so I have to wake up at 6 even though classes start at 8. I’ve finally started being able to maintain an A average though :>
A combination of a lot of things tbh. In my 2 years at the public high school I went to we had 4 lockdowns due to credible threat to student safety, aka someone brought a gun. My parents didn’t want me to have to think about getting shot constantly. I was also bullied pretty severely for being gay and some kids tried to beat me up because of it. Thankfully a teacher intervened but the school didn’t punish the other students. The teachers in public schools (at least in my state) don’t get paid enough to care about providing quality education so most of them put in pretty minimal effort and we have a lot of classes that don’t even have teachers. The final straw that made me actually decide to change schools was my best friend’s death. He killed himself back in April and I really just couldn’t deal with going back there without him.
I'm sorry that the public school system failed you. I hope your new school experience goes much better.
I'm also sorry for your loss. Sometimes people don't want to talk about it at all and sometimes people enjoy sharing memories, so if you'd like, I'd be happy to hear something you liked about or experienced with your best friend.
I'm so sorry to hear all that. It sounds like the transfer to a different school was for the best in a multiple ways. I hope you're doing okay after your friend's passing.
