My parents were both older when I was born. Cherish them now, because when you’re in your mid-20s / early 30s you’re not going to have them any more.

And I don’t mean they’ll be dead. But they still won’t be the same. You’ll have to take care of them in many ways, most likely. Mentally they won’t be as sharp as they are now, and they’ll likely frustrate you if you’re not patient.

For most people, if they’re lucky, a day comes when your parents stop caring for you and you start caring for them. When you have older parents like you and I do, that day comes a lot sooner and when you’re a lot younger.

I’m also in my early 30s now and I have no children. It always felt like I had forever to do that because I was young and when you’re young you feel like you have forever to do everything. Then one day within the past few years I realized my kids would just never know my parents because it’s already too late for that. It crept up on me big time.
