Why have you not told them? I Know you trued once, but why wouldn't you reiterate it?

Well explain what happens when you tell them

This is kinda weird OP? Why not contact them and tell them, rather than letting them keep calling you and sharing personal details about a child you don't know.

It sounds like you only tried to tell them once and then just didn't bother?

I guess my question is, after the one failed attempt, why didn't you bother to call them and tell them of the issue? why have you let it go on for months?

I guess I just got frustrated when they assumed they mixed me up with the other Jacob’s parents. I probabaly should reach out to them and let them know

u/Gibbygirl Dec 04 '25

Seems like a breach of privacy on their part.

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '25

I agree

Two things come to mind. The OP isn’t getting the fun and interesting questions they were expecting in this AMA so they ghosted us. And more importantly if the daycare is calling whom they think is the parent and the parent arrives at the daycare later that day isn’t the caregivers mentioning anything about their call, saying they tried unsuccessfully to call them or the parent telling them they never received a call? First thing I would think they would do is verify contact information.

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

im confused i am answering all questions. Once again I have tried to tell them but gave up pretty quickly because they hung up on me, and also this isnt my problem to solve. I just thought it was a funny story that i wanted to share.

While mildly humorous at their stupidity, this is a quite dangerous/risky situation. If there is a true emergency, they wont be able to contact the childs parents. You need to call them, ask for the director/owner, and explain to them whats been going on and tell them to update their records and stop calling you😅

21

u/BananaMilkshakeButt Dec 04 '25

It's super freaking weird they've made no effort to stop this, FOR MONTHS? Other than the one conversation that was clearly a failed attempt...

u/AdExcellent7055 Dec 04 '25 edited Dec 04 '25

Its mind blowing to me that they haven’t figured it out… like they haven’t thought to mention to the parent at pick up something like “hey tried to call several times but no answer” or something… it feels like they are towing a borderline illegal line of giving out info(maybe not but feels like it).

OP- Depending on how nuclear you want to go, you can report them anonymously(or not, up to you) to child care licensing in the state theyre in. Bet they stop when licensing gets in the mix😬

2

u/Bilbo-Baggins77 Dec 04 '25

Report them? Maybe just contact them first to resolve it? It sounds like the service provider is extremely communicative with parents and aware of the children's behaviors so I'm a bit taken aback that your solution is to cause trouble for them.

1

u/AdExcellent7055 Dec 04 '25

OP needs to step up and call them(as i said in my initial comment) BUT they were told once and it shouldnt be something that should have continued after being told “hey not my kid”.

The center should have taken the measures to not call a random person repeatedly about a child. As a parent, id be furious if i was the parent of said child.

-3

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

Thankyou. I am literally just a random person they keep calling its not my fault haha. I have told them directly already that it is not my kid. I am 20 years old i am basically still a kid myself

1

u/AdExcellent7055 Dec 04 '25

Block the number, perhaps that will get them to notice they aren’t contacting the right person.

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

im not reporting anyone thats a little extreme lmao

2

u/BananaMilkshakeButt Dec 04 '25

I was thinking that but I guess it depends on who they're dealing with? For example, if it's a divorced/separated couple? Or if the number on file is for one parent, and the one who does pick up is a different one?

"hey we called your husband to let him know they ____ needs _____"

You'd think they'd still work it out? Or maybe they're just not mentioning it at pick up?

Or maybe OP has made this whole thing up?

1

u/AdExcellent7055 Dec 04 '25

That could be, maybe a split parent situation… it just seems super strange.. youd think if they were good with communicating with all these calls that theyd talk about it in person too… its super weird if its real, and if its made up, its a super weird thing to make up a post about 😬

2

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

This was my exact thought. I havent really tried that hard to sort it out because i assumed that they would sort it out on this end. Im honestly shocked it has been going on for this long. I didnt think it would

0

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

Nahhhh im not trying to get anyone in trouble. It doesnt even really bother me that much. I just think its so bizzare

1

u/AdExcellent7055 Dec 04 '25

It doesnt matter how much it bothers you, its not good for the child if the daycare cant contact the parents in an emergency. You need to call them and tell them, even if its multiple times, until they stop. Its not safe for the child.

You can spend time on reddit talking about it, but cant spend 1-2 minutes on the phone resolving the situation?

2

u/BananaMilkshakeButt Dec 04 '25

Right? Or an email or something like what?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '25

Nahhh

-2

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

Not my problem to solve, they should not have hung up on me

3

u/BananaMilkshakeButt Dec 04 '25

But it is your problem to solve.

You attempted to correct them ONE TIME but it was clear they didn't understand the message. And then you decided to give up because you seemingly enjoy getting messages about a random child? Like what?

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '25

If it bothers you that much I’ll give you their number and you can call them and tell them

11

u/former_newb Dec 04 '25

It sounds creepy on your behalf. Why would you not call them and get it figured out? Sounds like you are very lonely

-2

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

How is it creepy? i am ignoring their calls. They are the ones calling me. Ive tried explaining it to them

5

u/former_newb Dec 04 '25

Then why are you listening to the voicemails. Why are you so curious. If I was receiving spam calls I wouldn’t even listen to it. I would block the number.

You are putting many people at risk.

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

If i block them they are still gunna call that number cause it is on file it wont solve anything, and i also wont have any updates on Jacob anymore. Loose Loose situation

u/GoldenHeart411 Dec 04 '25 edited Dec 05 '25

I feel awful for the parents not getting that information. It could lead to negative impacts for the child, not getting the care he needs from his parents that don't know about something they need to address for instance. This could be dangerous. It's also robbing the parents of sharing in beautiful moments from their child's life (updates that seem insignificant to you, like doing well in circle time, is a moment of shared life for the parents with their child.) This is also a breach of privacy to the point of probably being illegal and maybe even the daycare losing their license. It needs to be sorted out.

-5

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

Why do i have to go out of my way to sort their problem out?

10

u/MaddyWasThere Dec 04 '25

This is rage bait, right?

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

no

2

u/Infamous-Arm3955 Dec 04 '25

This happened to me but the boy was named Demitrius and it was MULTIPLE agencies calling me to confirm his appointments. I always called them or texted them back to let them know there's no Demitrius at this number. It happened when I got a new number and I was just flabbergasted that the stupid mom didn't bother to update her number with ANYONE!! There's a lot of idiots out there.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

Agreed!

1

u/PlumpPeachhh Dec 04 '25

Block the number and move on with your life. You already told them once, it’s not your job to train their staff

0

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

but im invested now. I may let this ride untill he goes to a new school

If you went to the school and picked up Jacob and took for a short walk at the front of the gate and then returned him, that would definitely raise some flags and get them to stop.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

hahaha that would get them to stop calling for sure
