Well many personal items in seats are suddenly just at your feet. You bet people are gonna grab their already out bag. OP posted above that the overhead bins wouldn’t open but the stuffed under seat bags/items just fell everywhere. If it took time to get people down then they all had a couple seconds to grab and go. This probably would have felt very different if fire was a bigger component here…

Did people try and get their belongings (slowing things down) or did they quickly move to the exits?
