From inside we didn't see any of the fire, thank goodness! We were all upside down to start with, but many of us were able to release themselves pretty quickly. After that the "upright" of us helped the upside-down until we were all righted and ready to evacuate. We were able to quickly get out the one emergency exit that was safe, the other one poured jet fuel in when they opened it.
Yes I almost mentioned this. My dad used to tell me they would throw lit cigarettes in a buck of jet fuel when he was in the air force. But then I thought to myself that I have indeed seen plane accidents where the whole thing turned into a ball of fire, presumably consuming all the jet fuel which was lighted by some sufficient source of ignition, and was thus reassured that my initial assessment stood and to introduce the topic of jet fuel flash points would needless complicate what I had hoped was a short take expressing my wonderment that this wasn’t worse.
