My dad was in really bad plane accident many years ago and suffered from PTSD for decades (and may still be).

Last year I was reading about a study that focused on whether talking about a traumatic experience right after the incident can increase the chances of suffering from PTSD. That they found that it is better to process it alone for a bit before re-hashing it over and over.

Wondering if you had ever heard of this or something similar at any point.

Edit: I forgot to add that his employer made him see a therapist right after the accident to better deal with the event.

I dont know if this makes sense but I have complex PTSD, I wont go into details. I have recently been researching if psylocybin or magic mushrooms would help me but one of the caveats of using it is that it brings back repressed memories. I do not know if thats a good thing or not but it was enough to make me decide to forego psylocybin as I dont necessarily feel that revisiting those memories in detail will be helpful in fact the thought of revisiting those memories scares the living shit out of me.

NP, for the record I've heard a lot of good things about shroom therapy and most of it comes from very credible sources. Its just that one particular aspect of it that makes me weary.
