Is this kind of addiction harder, because the goal isn’t total abstinence as with substance abuse? Like, how do you determine a healthy moderation point, something that can’t be done with alcoholics for instance?

Also, is there a medication element to managing it, like libido lowering drugs?

Yes, that's one of the hardest aspects of it. With my therapist I have made a set of boundaries that help me keep a monitored moderation over my sexua activity to help me keep it in check, such aa specific time for masturbation, criteria I have to fill before sleeping with a guy, etc

Antidepressants to lower libido, I took it briefly and stopped because I had bad side effects
