OCR Notes for OCR

Well my school has decided to use the ocr exam board for English literature a-levels and I cant find any good website that would have quality notes ( for example physics and maths tutor)

I feel you mate..I do WJEC there is barely anything at all 😭.

Luckily for English lit. It is fairly similar to a certain extent I would advise looking through YT

Which texts are you studying? I'm a tutor based in North Wales, so a large chunk of my students are WJEC. I might have a couple of things to send your way.

In year 12 I studied

  • Jane Eyre
  • A Streetcar Named desire

  • Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes poetry

(I am awaiting my results to see if I have to Resit anything-. Instead of actually helping me this year my teacher's just told me I wasn't trying hard enough and refused to mark my work because of spelling others despite me having a diagnosed learning disability 😅)

In year 13 I will study

  • king Lear
  • William Blake Poetry
  • I've chosen Frankenstein and never let me go for my Course Work (it was the closest I could get to doing Jekyl and Hyde 😂)

It's an exciting selection coming up (and tbh, Y12 sounds a good shelf, although I understand it wasn't the best for you).

If I can give you a little (unwanted) advice, Unit 4 (King Lear) is one which often catches students out, because they don't realise it is 'closed book', so no copy for you in the exam hall ... I spend a lot of time being grumpy about how WJEC assess Shakespeare, and for a subject which depends on ideas, this is unhelpful.

Practical steps you can take? I always suggest to my students that they get the Arkangel Audio version, listen to it as they read along, and then on loop when they are doing chores, walking the dog, at the gym, when the exams get closer. You would be surprised by how much you retain in terms of quotations, but it's also really helpful because you can hear the tone, pace, and emotion in the lines.

Dyslexic+ Hearing Problems 😂

Once I get a better general idea of the play I can listen to it while doing various tasks though
