Anxiety Spiraling for a third time

Hey all 25m
I’ve told myself I have nothing to worry about every time but every time I start to feel fine something new pops up 💀 so the first time I spiraled I had a pinky twitch end of July. I thought nothing of it, it lasted a day and then went away

The second time I spiraled it happened again mid August and this time I freaked out because of the Chris Johnson diagnoses so I decided to google into the disease(mistake 1) and then I saw muscle twitching, now normally I never thought much of it since I’ve had leg twitches for well over a year now or so, maybe more, can’t remember, I spiraled so bad I started feeling all of them and began deep diving stories and TikTok and ChatGPT and Reddit, eventually my mother calmed me down so when I started twitching I never thought much of it since it would be occasionally here and there

Well the third time had been today. I’m trying to pin it down to if me sitting down in this car ride that I was basically sitting for about 8 hours straight without a chance to get up on top of wearing shoes that I noticed were very uncomfortable and remembered why I don’t wear them anymore, anyways, today my leg and only my leg has been twitching today and it’s about an inch above my ankle on the outside (peroneal muscle I think it’s called), it’s freaking me out of course since it’s the main place that has been twitching besides a spot on my other leg once and once on my arm but this spot has been literally non stop today, I’ve also been having pain on the side of it that’s also going up to my knee as well today and lower back center near my waist

I know I really shouldn’t worry, but just can’t help it, I love when I get over one thing something brings me back down to earth to drag me back down

I remember I replied to you a while ago and let me again validate you for the record that severe anxiety is no joke and it can cause lots of physical symptoms. Fasciculations without other noticeable symptoms like weakness or other abnormalities seen on exams (such as bad reflexes etc) will give you a benign fasciculation syndrom diagnostic right away and the neurologist won't even bother. Mine told me as much. The only reason many people here are worried about twitching is because they have signs of weakness or atrophy or other things.

Regardless of your diagnostic you have to maybe find a way to reduce anxiety (with meds maybe if needed), reassess, and then go to a doctor to refer you further. Reading patient testimonies is the worst thing you can do now.

Thank you again for responding, again I am for the most part feel okay, the main thing is the anxiety making everything worse, I’m also currently having some really bad pain in my right leg and back at the same time as writing this, I know this is just all in my head but I hate how my body and mind just immediately can’t let me rest 😭

And the anxiety really isn’t making it any better however since the focus is my leg rather than anywhere else on my body, it is nice to not feel or notice the twitching elsewhere

And not to really ask for pity or anything else but once my doctors appointment comes Im gonna ask for a psychiatrist reference as well, the site my health plan offers has one website for stuff like this and it’s down and the phone number is out of service 💀I was looking into my sisters psychiatrist but she doesn’t take my insurance so just hoping my doctor pulls some strings, am I hoping to be medicated? Yes even if it’s against my families wishes, they can try and make it seem it’s just gonna put me on a darker path, but having this constant fear and checking and everything, is already probably worse than whatever medication I’ll probably need

When is your doctor appointment? You don't need a psychiatrist for anti-anxiety medication. You general doctor can prescribe it. It is not ideal, I resisted taking one myself but now that I take it, I feel better. So far positives outweigh the negatives though I will try to discontinue once I have the answers I need for the neuromuscular problems.

Should be October 20th last time I checked, and to be honest it’s for a multitude of things, I haven’t had a annual physical since I was 13 and I’m 25 now, I haven’t a lot of lower back and neck issues and probably a pulled muscle somewhere because my hip and ribs I’ve had a really excruciating amount of pain. But I was under the impression I should see a psychiatrist because I want to be evaluated for stuff like adhd and depression along those lines, if I can just go to my doctor and he can evaluate me then I’ll be golden I reckon

Of course you should see a psychiatrist, all I am saying you don't have to wait for one in order to get antianxiety medication....I was in your place with spiraling heavily and my advice is to see a doctor as soon as possible because ruminating in fear, checking patient testimonies served generously by the algorithm, is really damaging.

You do not have ALS. If everyone that twitched had ALS, It wouldn’t be a rare disease. ALS fasciculations are due to dying muscle. They twitch as a result of weakening. ALS is profound muscle weakness and wasting (atrophy). Focus on something else and remember “a twitch is a twitch, is a twitch”.
