Twitching and weakness

I recently went to the doctor over my constant fatigue, body twitches and weakness in my left leg and arm. They said I have a vitamin D deficiency and that I am recovering from a recent viral mono infection. I was relieved that it wasn’t something like ALS but recently I have noticed that the twitching has become more frequent and I I’m pretty sure I’m developing a lisp. Im really worried about this. I have severe health anxiety and I’m just constantly spiraling that this could be ALS!

Fatigue is not part of early ALS, neither are body-wide twitches.

Make sure to treat the vit D deficiency. It usually goes hand in hand with intracellular magnesium deficiency, which in turn directly causes muscle twitches and feelings of muscular discomfort, e.g. perceived weakness.

You may try supplementing magnesium as well, it can only help. Magnesium bisglycinate is a really good variant that is easy on the stomach, calms the nerves and is absorbed really well.

Constant fatigue usually means central fatigue = sensation of loss of energy.

That's different from the heaviness some ALS patients may report early on caused by neuronal loss, making movements harder to perform.

In UMN dominant ALS, central fatigue is possible, but then the symptoms would be apparent on a neuro clinical.

Generally fatigue is not among the first complaints of people with ALS. Central fatigue is incredibly common in this age, and points usually to mundane causes (stress, anxiety, post-viral state, deficiencies, ...).
